THANK YOU ZO SO MUCH FOR SPEAKING UP FOR WILL!! I have said to people that...for a black man to command the attention of the WORLD on a WORLDWIDE STAGE...to decide to UTILIZE that privilege & opportunity to SINGLE OUT A BLACK WOMAN AND HER APPEARANCE IN A NEGATIVE WAY...ON A WORLDWIDE STAGE FOR A LAUGH, IS THE REAL SHAME!!! Had the FIRST of the two wrongs never happened...the SECOND wrong would've never happened. INSULTING a WOMAN on a WORLDWIDE STAGE for a laugh at HER expense is not ok. Yep, I said it.

Being funny cracking jokes. 3. He laughed at the joke…. If it weren’t for the “trigger” of possibly look of Jadas face he wouldn’t have KEPT laughing 4. He would not have done that if it were Dave Chapelle or Kevin Hart or even a white host. 5. What he did was an embarrassment to the black + Male community tbh 6. He allowed his BIGGEST moment ever, one that was a long time coming - to literally be taken away in a second by a joke nonetheless…. One that wasn’t even that hilarious. 6 He ain’t do it for Jada let’s get that straight lol that slap was way more than that. 7. She HUMILIATED Will and continues to crush and belittle Will! Like what?!? That’s no wife! I’m on Will Smith side too. I not only thought the joke was insensitive, but, as a black man, why would Chris Rock think it’s ok to make a joke about a black woman at a predominantly WHITE awards show? Like come on dude 🤦🏾♀️. And I understand he didn’t write the joke; I’m pretty sure a white person behind the scenes wrote it. But he had every opportunity to not tell that bad joke. Lmaooo over a joke? 🤣🤣🤣Fuck a book. Fuck a celebrity status. He’s a person Ike the rest of us, only difference is that he has the money to get THERAPY. Real therapy. For himself and his family. Not a fking “table talk”. He chose to get up there and harm another black man over a G.I. Jane joke. A joke. He didn’t assault her, and all the jokes people made in the past 3 years TRUMPED this. There is no excuse. Nobody -NOBODYYYYYY- is obligated to read a fucking book to explain away his behavior AT HIS AGE. That move was pussy. THIS MF LAUGHED and then they cut away to Chris right after, so clearly Will looked at Jada’s expression and thought this was an opportunity to puff out his chest. But he didn’t have that energy for her, or anybody else who dragged him through the mud for airing their dirty laundry in public. You notice how they didn’t show Jada after the slap? All tf she did was roll her eyes and he assaulted someone on live television. I thought he was DRUNK when he did this. Anyone who thinks this was genuine “defense of a black woman” is goofy asf.

Talk About What Really Happened… I’m not one to comment on celebrity stuff because honestly I’m focused on other things. I also don’t comment on “bandwagon” things that everyone has a comment about. But the Smith-Rock incident is different for me. I didn’t see one celebrity slap another. It also had nothing to do with Jaida. I saw historical lessons play out right before my very eyes. I saw one Black man who felt publicly emasculated publicly emasculate another Black man because that’s what we’re taught to do and are expected to do. The reason Will had trouble apologizing was because he had trouble understanding the deep place all the rage came from. All day long I have heard superficial debates about if the joke was worth that reaction, if it was a slap or punch, or if Will would have done that to a bigger or stronger man. I think all that is irrelevant. I put money on the belief that if any white comedian would have made the exact same joke, Will may had stewed, and frowned, and cursed under his breath, but he would not have left that seat and he would not have yelled and cursed. Chris Rock, a Black man, was the path of least resistance. The reaction of the comedian being slapped, the audience, and the Academy would have been dramatically different if Will Smith had slapped a white comedian…and his apology would have likely been swifter and bigger because the consequences would have been swifter and bigger. This was just another case of Black on Black violence that gets ignored all day everyday. Sad but true. Today, Black people are sensitive to how we are treated by other races (as we should be), but we seem to be oblivious to what we do one another and how we too often play right into the stereotypes that we do despise. I hope that when Will and Chris do talk about the incident publicly that they have a real conversation about these things I’m speaking on instead of publicist-prepared, lawyer-reviewed, career-preserving statements intended to pacify instead of heal.

Y’all the same people who laugh at Bobby and Whitney jokes , Stevie wonder jokes , you even made a joke about Jordan being peed on by her bd . Will’s speech literally explained that he stepped out of character. There are ways to handle situations like this. THERE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANY PHYSICAL CONTACT IN THAT PLACE, PERIODT. It would’ve been better if the physical approach was after the show, him saying, “keep my wife’s name out your fkn mouth” should’ve been enough for the moment. Ijs

I don't condone this. But observing the scene, i could see how out of character will was. When the joke was made I could see how Jada was upset. This topic is probably really sensitive behind the scenes. And the fact that Chris is a friend too and he made that joke at the fkn Oscar's with all these white ppl regarding the disease this balck woman has. But when u make jokes u should understand that ppl will have diffrent reactions. Now, it should have been jandled behind the scenes they could have just bot laughed and maybe cussed him on camera but hitting him was not cool. But I did see the pain in his voice when he said KEEP MY WIFE OUT UR MOUTH. I think he lost it. We saw him Crack. But he did defend his misses

I’m shocked and disgusted at people feeling sorry for Chris Rock. It shows they didn’t do their research. Chris was warned not to make jokes about Jada beforehand and this was inappropriate. Also Chris sat with Louis CK, Ricky Gervais and watched and laughed at them using the n word. This is disgusting 🤮 and Chris Rock was never held accountable for his actions. Yet Will is being looked at as the villain. The Oscars could have cut the camera as well, but we know their ratings have been in the toilet for years!

@Daisymychele2 жыл бұрын
@Vice Versa you see it as violence I see it as protecting his wife. Now do I agree with the location and time that he did everything? NO but that still doesn’t change the fact that Chris Rock made Jada uncomfortable and made a distasteful joke. I didn’t find it funny and I sure as hell think Chris deserved to be checked. Thank you for wrapping this up with that speech!! I LOVE YOU ZOIE..... You said EVERYTHING that NEEDED to be said! As a BLACK COMMUNITY WE HAVE TO PROTECT ONE ANOTHER and sometimes that means against one another.....WILL was RIGHT to uphold the oath he took with GOD and protect, guide, and provide for his WIFE as well as the family THEY CREATED TOGETHER....I have lost a tremendous amount of respect for Chris Rock, making lite of someone's medical condition on an international platform is NEVER FUNNY...she was mearley there to support her husband on his night and she was publicly embarrassed for NO REASON....THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE
@oliviateller90872 жыл бұрын
Unpopular opinion: Will should’ve choose a better approach to confront Chris. Yes, the joke about her condition was wrong but the act was just classless and shouldn’t have been done in that matter.
