This story misses with me because of the ending. I don't agree with another commenter that this is a SIMP story; it doesn't go quite as far as a SIMP story would. But it does seem to suffer from the forgetfulness of just how devastating relationship betrayal really is. Short of stabbing someone in the back with a literal knife, betraying someone who loves you is the literal worst thing you can do to a loved one. The emotional and mental damage it does can be difficult to recover from. While some dissolved relationships can remain friends, ones that end with betrayal rarely do. These cheating stories that have people becoming pals are just unrealistic. People that have no problem with betraying you for their own gratification are not going to be good friends.

Good answer but I would counter with a couple of things: a) something like having someone else's child is worse than just cheating (IMHO) (b) the OP NEVER received her just punishment. Comparatively speaking she got off scot-free! Just a divorce with no financial hit at all. Also, the Husband certainly was not a simp! He acted promptly and with a plan. Wha more could he do?

I also agree. Good answer. I also agree the husband was not a simp. To be a simp, you have to allow the other party to knowingly disrespect you while taking your love to be a simp. He didn't know of the affair so he wasn't a cuck. And he didn't accept the affair and left so he isn't a simp either. But I also agree that the husband is too kind. His love for Jade must be beyond deep if he even had Jade become his child's godmother. Now I understand that only the husband knows how hard it was for Jade to not give him a child and I'm sure that was why she was made the godmother. It was the closest they could come to having a child together after the fact. Anyway, I'm rambling. Good answer.

There is slways a problem with husbands who are absent from their wives for long periods of time. However this does not give wives permission to cheat eventhough opportunities present themselves. I have had to spend weeks away on training courses with opportunities to stray, but my wife and children meant much much more to me than a few fleeting moments of pleasure. After 50 years of marriage i can say, I've been faithful.Thank God.

Good story. Well written. It was quick to only touch on the areas that didnt need extra explainations and yet delve into the conversation needed. It was also that conversation/confession that was the most emotional part of the story. Even Jades introduction of her new husband. Just enough was given to satisfy the listeners. We got the understanding of Jerry and hiw him and Jade came to be. We know hardly anything about Jimmys 2nd marraige. But that wasnt the important part. Amy is the important part of Jimmy's 2nd marraige as it relates to Jade. Like i said. A well written story. It definitely pulled conflicting emotions of sorrow, hurt, and anger at the same time.

So long distance relationships are very risky. I waited for a year and a half for a visa for my wife. But flew over to her country lot and she was living with her parents and grandparents next door. Her family had no women divorcing pretty much ever. I trusted her and never doubted her. Of course I had ways of monitoring her beyond what she was aware of because I’d been betrayed before. I’m confident she didn’t betray me. And over the last twenty years here there’s been nothing but loyalty. The woman in the story is very different.
