Mankading will become more and more frequent now. So non strikers should only leave their crease when they have seen the bowler actually release the ball. Otherwise you'll lose your wicket. The only way for everyone to learn a lesson from this is to just mankad ppl from ball 1 if they leave the crease lol. I know it's extreme but then ppl will get the message. Either that or just get rid of this rule.

The difference is that England didn't try to win on boundary count. I'd suggest that every England player in that game would have been happy to play another super over. Here, it was the explicit choice of the bowler to run the batter out. She can do that - it's in the laws of the game - but consider this: pretty much every batter in the game would have left their crease slightly early at least once and possibly many times and yet no bowler tried to run them out before this occasion. Why is that? If you consider this mode of dismissal to be just as legitimate as any other, why aren't you trying to get people out this way all the time, the way you are with other modes of dismissal? It's because even those who do it don't see it as being as legitimate as other modes of dismissal.

If a batsman/batswoman has a tendency to leave the crease early (by way of habit or to get an advantage - reason doesn't matter), then the opposition team, as a matter of intentional tactic, should start doing this to get him/her out. If this calls for a change in behavior from the non-strikers' perspective, then so be it. That's what the rule demands. It is like a bowler seeing a batsman losing balance often on deliveries that go past his leg side (which is a natural tendency) and then deliberately bowling a fast leg-side wide to get him stumped. Very legitimate. Very tactical.

If a bowler steps over the line, they are offering no ball with free hit in the following ball. So if the batter comes out of the crease before bowling, the bowler can run out the batter. It's a rule. I didn't see any cheating there.

Nobody ever claimed the Indian bowler cheated. The issue was over sportsmanship, or lack of it. India had already won the series and there was a very good chance they would have won this game without the runout. It was not a suddenly realised opportunity but a precisely timed and calculated move by the bowler. I grew up with a clear understanding of the phrase, "It just isn't cricket", meaning that whatever advantage you gained by using a method that though legal leaves a shadow over the game is not worth having.

For those people ranting about the fact that the mankad was wrong. Consider this: the non-strike batter literally covers so much less the distance of running as the ball is about to be delivered. Now what this does is that it allows them to cover less distance, run quicker and steal an easy one. So if a batter can do that all the time, then why can’t the fielding team impose a threat of Mankading towards that. The crease has been made for a reason

Mankading will become more and more frequent now. So non strikers should only leave their crease when they have seen the bowler actually release the ball. Otherwise you'll lose your wicket. The only way for everyone to learn a lesson from this is to just mankad ppl from ball 1 if they leave the crease lol. I know it's extreme but then ppl will get the message. Either that or just get rid of this rule.
