My family and I drove through Rome NY the day this happened. I cannot fathom the thought that I would have been driving through this had it been just two hours later. We actually had to take shelter as the area we stayed in was getting potentially hit by a tornado. I’ve rarely ever had to shelter, but I did that time, because the sky and wind gave my gut that feeling that a tornado was on the ground. And I wasn’t wrong. It’s chilling to see pictures of the places I drove right past, completely hammered. Thoughts and prayers to those affected by this.

Sir. I live in Rome, 3 miles from the tornado's activity. We have experienced bad storms in the past but nothing like this. Obviously, climate change is a factor and all must be prepared for further storms like this.

I live a little way south of Rome and I can't believe how it was hit like this! It's crazy NYS has been getting these tornados this year. And this tornado was huge for this area! Ef2 last I heard. The people filming aren't hiding like they should that's scary. Praying that Rome can recover!

Yup know that feeling. I was driving in it also. Saw the cloud forming over by Byrne Dairy by the time we got to the light on the Blvd in front of the fire department it was comin up right behind us. Then went up Thomas st. Had to weave through branches falling etc. It was absolutely insane.

I lived in Upstate NY (Schenectady, Rochester, and Syracuse) for 17 yrs total. During that time, I saw few, if any, storms like this. The funnel cloud at 2:30 looks more like something we'd see in Illinois or Iowa, where I lived before moving to NY.

I totally agree! I lived in Michigan my HS and college years before returning to upstate NY. I had to learn tornado safety there. NY may need to start putting in tornado sirens if this continues and educate the public.

That wasn’t this tornado. The Rome tornado was rain wrapped and you would not have been able to see it like this.

I live right outside of Rome, in Floyd… that tornado shook the whole house but thank god no one was injured. I have a lot of family in Rome and they all got lucky. Praying for the damage to our citizens 💕

I was home. Corner of Henry and Maddison. Tornado was right on top of house. House was shaking roofs flying everywhere

Great video-when I heard about the tornado 🌪️ hitting Rome, New York-I looked at a road map of the Empire State and yep, 👍 it was in the central part of the state -they said the national weather service had it on its radar but it formed so quickly,thre. There was no warning-I sympathies with the people of the city for the damage left by the ef-2 🌪️ twister! I hope they recover from it! 👀🌪️😮😮😮😮😩😩

In Matthew 24:7 the Greek word for earthquakes (which we've seen so much of) is seismos which also means storms. It's the same word used when Jesus was sleeping on the boat with the disciples and the storm came. People drove in this condition because at 3:43 pm it was partly sunny and at 3:49 this hit.. so yea, people were driving. There was a tornado warning over the phone as it was happening
