That is awesome John! How do you like the Westcott gear?
@johnbivins3 жыл бұрын
@@EliInfante The gear is affordable, a short learning curve with an easy-to-use menu system that visible without my reading glasses. It's also quick to deploy and tear down on location and durable. I was inspired listening to you talk about your style and gear when interviewed by Joe Edelman and looked into the gear you were using and haven't looked back. My other purchases are numerous Westcott umbrellas, rapid boxes and other accessories including the diffuser dome for my FJ80’s The build quality is amazing and support when making purchase is absolutely top notch. One last thing Purchased 2 of the FJ-XR wireless receivers, and this gave me the ability to control my other brand speedlights and strobe from my Westcott trigger. It feels great to know that all I have backups of crucial gear and it’s all the same brand this allows me to swap a battery and such with out worry. Love your videos and the others from the Westcott team. I have a lot to learn still but I can say with confidence if someone is just getting started or was like me had a mixture of flashes and strobes Westcott will not only make your life a heck of lot easier but will let you focus on getting the shot not your gear.

I assume your default or go-to lighting set up is 45 and 45 - 45 degrees off camera angle & 45 degrees shooting down at the subject. Do you ever shoot across the subject to create more shadows or, according to your style of beauty photography, do you usually seek to minimize or fill in shadows? Also, if I favor my 85 mm Prime, is it worth trekking a mile to beautiful location with 2 10-lb. weights, if I'm I intend to blur out or darken the background anyway?

Have you ever tried putting more light from the rear (where sun is setting) and less light on the front (but enough to expose the subject)?
