This is an experimental make-up session using the original (un-opened) Biba make-up from the early 70's. I had no idea what look I was going for when I started and just went with the flow. I have a huge selection of the original make-up so just put lots of shades on the make-up table and picked up various colours I felt would work as I went along.
I chose Claudia Devlin to apply this look to, not just because she's amazing but also because I feel she really fits the Biba aesthetic and her face really inspired me. Working with these products, developed using the technology of the late 60's, was an eye opener. No crease proof, long lasting formulations for a start. Also the very high pigment levels plus no silicones means a lot more blending!! Interesting enough once the make-up was finished all it took was one quick wipe over with make-up remover and everything was completely gone...this make-up was not designed to last!
I hope you enjoy watching this little bit of make-up history come to life!

I was around in the 70's and wore a lot of her (Biba) make-up, in fact, I had several of these eye shadows, especially the lavender (we just said "purple" back then), and also her yummy blushes! and we weren't afraid to color our cheeks with them, either. We LOVED our blushes!!! 🤗 Miss the make-up we had back in the 70's. I still have a few items in the back of my drawers. A few perfumes, too. Could never bring myself to toss them out. They don't make make-up today like they used to. Didn't realize back then that we had it so good. Thanks again for this great video trip down memory lane. 😘

I still have my crayons from Biba in Kensington High Street. They are almost completely used, but I kept them so much I love them. I didn't realize they were vintage! I don't know how many years I used them! I never had a skin problem because of them, lucky me! :-) I am still using a Mary Quant palette from the same period that I love so much too! Lisa Eldridge Until the earthquakes destroyed my city, and most of my personal collections of predominently are deco items, when out looking for items that interested me, I often looked out for *_™Mary Quant_* items. I come from a family that includes six sisters, and looked at my older sisters as style icons. I loved the _Quant_ logo at the age of seven and still think it is one of the most inspired and timeless of post World War II cosmetics. If you have the time and/or opportunity, I'd love to know if you have anything to say about the *™Mary Quant* brand.

The model is gorgeous, she really fits this makeup look. Lisa you are absolutely inspiring. I had never looked at makeup as something that could be considered art or anything more than to "beautify" basically. Just watching your videos have inspired me to create new looks for myself and to look at makeup as an art, a form of expression and femininity. I love how passionate you are about this. By far one of the best makeup experts out there.

I remember having a "china doll" blouse like what the model is wearing when I was in high school. Wore it with jeans. Ahhh the 70's. Loved that era. Disco, long straight swinging hair, angel sleeves and Steely Dan. Gas was 25 cents a gallon and my friends and I used to sneak into clubs and drink grasshoppers and brandy alexanders. Those were the good ol days.

I have come back to this video several times and it is always refreshing to think about makeup so differently. I often think why are we still so strict to things which seem natural when makeup can be such a great outlet for expression, imagine if every person woke up in the morning and thought as freely about the things that they could put on their face as they are starting to about their clothing, it would be so interesting just looking around and seeing faces like this one, which though it may seem strange is undeniably beautiful. I think the Lisa Eldridge channel is a one-stop shop for a healthy open outlook on all that makeup has to offer. Thank you for that.

Brilliant Lisa! I was too young to wear makeup at this time, but remember the look well. Longingly looking through fashion mags marketed to young mods and flower children, I would use my pencil crayons to draw faces, hair, dresses and boots to feel part of the scene. While all my friends were wearing their first nail polish in 'Prom Pink' I wore Yardley's 'Earth Apple Brown'. Please continue taking us on these delightful journeys.

That was incredibly evocative for me - exactly how I made up my face in the early 70’s with the amazing Biba makeup - very trance-y , very hippieish , at 60, I still love makeup and I thought this was one of the best makeup videos I’ve ever seen - thank you for the memories . I do remember having the most extraordinary electric green metallic cream eyeshadow that took me ages to blend out with a brush, it came in a black glass pot - of all the makeup I’ve thrown away , this is the item I regret losing .

When I was 14 my grandmother's sister gave me a silvered pale blue eyeshadow from the 70s and stupidly I simply used it and allowed my mother to discard the packaging. It wasn't Biba, I'm not sure the brand, it seemed to be a refill for a palate, as it was in a tiny cardboard rectangle press, cased in a clear plastic tab. I wish I still had it now!

How do you say "too much makeup" it's a makeup look that is from a specific tome period, obviously unless you like that full on 70s look you're not going to wear it, so relax.

I graduated high school in 1972 and was totally obsessed with the advertisements I saw for the Biba makeup line. I sadly never saw any in person - wish I had at least kept some of the magazine ads! Thanks for this beautiful video - it brings back memories!

I love your vlogs because they are educational. I am not a make-up artist but have enjoyed watching you. This is one of the best I have seen.

Extraordinary!!! You really captured the essence of Biba, and the choice of model is spot on.

Omg I watched this video twice over! I was mesmerized! I love really unconventional colorful makeup and I am seriously wishing to make this sort of look my nighttime going out makeup. I know it's not for everyone but I'm going to try and cobble together some looks using my modern-day makeup. This and the other look you did with Biba makeup are both amazing. I swear they changed my whole outlook on makeup somehow.
