To celebrate Dramface reaching its 1,000 reviews milestone we thought it'd be a good idea to attempt a video edit this time around.
Our editor is work-shy, so he might decide this is a one off, we'll see. If you enjoy this new format then hop on with the words of encouragement for future episodes to feature our (Dram)faces.
This episode is a little self-indulgent, given the milestone, but we wander off to discuss the challenges of scoring as well as celebrating where we're at in whisky right now, like, today
After we pause to mark 1k reviews, we all fall out with Roy over the I Am A Distillery result. Shocking behaviour.

Good stuff! As regards scoring... A comprehensive score slapped on to the end of a review does not influence my decision to buy or not buy. The reviewer's well-presented response to a nosing, tasting, and value experience will pass along the information that I find useful or even vital; if anything, I see a final score and might wonder how the reviewer arrived at it after reading/watching a review., especially a nicely developed one. Lookiing forward to more from you guys.

Love having the video too guys. Hope to see more for future episodes. I liked the talk over scores. Something touched on but could probably be expanded in future discussions was the point about the narrow ranges of scores. It totally makes sense for experienced whisky lovers to have the narrow range. You cant afford to buy things you may not like or know probably is not for you. So when you buy and review things you know are in your wheel house, chances are it wont disappoint you so much that you'll end up with a score below 5. There is also a difference between objectively bad whisky and just something that is not your preference. I dont think many make just purely bad whisky. Lots make whisky at prices that dont support what is in the bottle which i think should factor into a score

First the Colonials, now Dramface Podcast 2.0 - It keeps getting better. Waiting for everyone to show up at my door for a dram or three. BTW Does anyone else think that Gregor's hair look just like Anson Mount on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds? Taking bets on when will Roy guess the 'I am a distillery' in question #1.

Loving this video format chaps. 👌. Score scale wise personally I prefer the double digit score. But you guys won’t likely be reviewing anything lower than an 80. So maybe a 20 point score system 80-100 gives you guys way more license & an extra dimensions within those 2 categories of 10 (80’s & 90’s). It’s a tough one to navigate I get that. 👍

Okay, I loved this. I'm ashamed to say this was my first Dramface podcast. But what can I say? I'm a KZbin whore, not a Podcast listener. KZbin is just where I get the majority of my whisky content, though I do read Dramface reviews here and there. For your consideration, if you could include wheelchair accessible distillery locations, I'd be very grateful. I'm looking to visit Scotland in the near future, and as a wheelchair user turning 50 years old in 2025, travel on its own is becoming trickier every year. Thanks guys! Keep em coming!

Ahh Geoff apologies we didnt see your comment before recording so I cant say we were able to get you an answer on wheelchair access. Alas a lot of the distilleries were built at a time where access wasnt top of list - newer distilleries should see you right. @Community - if you know any more please share here

Reference point is interesting! I will have a tasting at my home at Saturday next week. I have send out 4 blind samples to people that are invited (8 whiskynerds). They shall taste the 4 whiskies and compare it with their own reference whisky and then shall they motivate/justify their camparision and why they have put a specific rating on each. After this I will serve them 12 more whiskies in "the sea of ratings" There will be blends, wine cask matured whiskies and cask strength whiskies in the mix.Have you any recommendation for the tasting? We use the 100p system It will be blends/blended malts like Thompson Bros, Dewars double double 32y and Timorous Beastie 21y compared with HP cask strength, Bunna 12 CS, Indri Dru compares with Green Spot, Octomore 8.2 among others.
