Thanks for that, I've just ordered one off Amazon for £115. I just like the fact that its gasless & don't have to find a big bottle of CO2. All the best & have a happy Christmas.....

Great video. Thanks. If I ever want to torture someone, Jack Bauer style, I will force them to listen to your background music.

I just bought one of these, and the instruction manual was vague, to say the least. Anyway, I just set it up after watching your vid, had a play, and I managed to join a couple of test pieces of steel together, and run some lines of weld on them. So thanks!

Glad it helped.

2 years on any tips you can give on using it as I'm hopefully going to buy one as I've been donated a bbq and the previous owner blew a couple of holes in it when they welded it up but I'm also looking at building my own smoker at some point

Seems like wire speed was a bit too fast but great informative vid, I'm looking at getting one soon 😊

For sills what settings did you find best to use thanks tom

What setting were you at on the last weld….and wire speed.

With a proper mig welder you have to push the Lance into the weld, not drag it, I'm not sure if the same for flux core but it would make sense for the gas generated from the burn to be caught in the nozzle to create a shield over the weld

After two years do you still have the same welder, I don't weld I have ordered a welder for my work. I've been let down by people who can't do the job's that I would like to be welded, so I decided do it myself.

nice shed.

Looked like your wire speed was too high. But I'm only an amateur who's played at welding for a couple of years mainly with a stick welder Flux core is new to me and I believe the brand of wire is very important on these for best results.
@retrotech20203 жыл бұрын
Thanks Terry. Yes power and wire feed were too high. Interestingly the cheap wire from Ebay worked better than the Draper wire supplied with the welder.

Off topic, I use old engine oil to paint my shed, been doing it for 15 years. It's cheap and works, small roller is best to use for application Try it if you like, dad was a painter and he knew his stuff. I got a welder like yours from Lidl, lots of practice needed. Kind of prefer my stick welder except for thinner metal.

Hi I have just bought the storm force gasless mig is there any tips on setting for thin metal
@retrotech20202 жыл бұрын
Use thinner wire and change the nozzle to suit the new wire. Then use the stitch welding method. I found this to be successful.

I tried everything wire speed 0.9 flux core still blows holes

Is the torch tip flexible? Could you bend it to get a good angle in low clearance situations?
@retrotech2020 Жыл бұрын
No it's rigid.

Got one , worked for 5 minutes , stopped working , took it apart to find all the wiring loose and some had fallen off. Draper customer services could not give a monkeys nut sac.

Great video thank you but I'd lose the background music if possible, doesn't add anything to it just really annoying!

Just tried one of these, it's absolutely crap so it's going back to the shop. Not got any power, and the wire feed speed is WAY too fast!

It is all about practice. I drag my weld gun at about 45 degrees. I'm not perfect either.

Please wear welding gloves.. they not just there to protect your hands from the heat but also the shield them from the intense UV light you get from welding.. Welding UV light causes long term damage
@mikle653 жыл бұрын
don't weld in a straight line, circular movements or draw u shapes
@Migman20203 жыл бұрын
You always treat flux wire like a stick.. drag the weld puddle so you dont have slag entrapment
@darrensam2512 Жыл бұрын
OK welder, but throw the wire away its crap.by some super6 and the welder improves 100%
@johnchristie80602 жыл бұрын
Crap welder i have seen experienced welder struggle with gasless on thin panels
@retrotech20202 жыл бұрын
I did alright on 2mm in the end to be fair.

Think you need some lessons.Too far away from the work and too much wire sticking out
