Ya know, this fight holds a special place in my heart because of what happened the first time my brother and I beat Ka. We were on the final phase, 1 faint left, and we were doing pretty good. I was a little low on health and went to heal, but as I did, Ka fired a web at me that bound me up in silk. After that I saw it ready the dragonator throw, aimed right at me. I knew it was over, and I apologized to my brother. Then, out of freaking nowhere, my brother rushes towards me and proceeds to hit me into the air with his hammer swing, launching me out of the way of the dragonator as it flew directly under my feet. We ended up beating the quest, which has become one of my favorite memories from this series. Hammer mains, I respect you. (Even when you do launch me out of a combo.)

Imagine Ahtal-Ka in Rise. You hit it with a silkbind attack and it gets pissed and counterattacks with its own version of the silkbind you just hit it with. It fills the air with silk so when you try to use silkbinds you get webbed up and tangled. It pulls out the giant puppet and yoinks all your wirebugs right off of you and traps them in the cocoons and you have to climb up it the hard way and break the cocoons to get your wirebugs back, then use your wirebugs to grapple the heart open and yank Ahtal-Ka right out of its own puppet, at which point you get a Wyvernride prompt... and get to stomp Ahtal-Ka with its own puppet!

@@zeehero7280 It's all about the small details. The more clunky, yet still smooth gameplay. The little oddities here and there, like potion flexing and monsters turning 60 degrees at a time. The old f*cking egg quests, which I still have both some of the best and worst memories from. Mining expeditions, because inventory was so limited back in the day that you had to go on dedicated expeditions for mining or foraging. Focused by every single enemy in the room, both small and large, because f*ck the player. Overcoming all of these hurdles was part of what made old MH challenging, yet so incredibly fun in the long run. Cause you always had to adapt and think about what you were doing. In the newer games, the hunters are so much more powerful (as in having so many more ways to deal damage), the monsters behave much more like actual creatures, meaning that monsters will fight each other instead of the hunter when they get into the same area. Ever used dung bombs in World or Rise? If no, it's because they most likely just feel optional. In old games they were a necessity for survival if you did not want to wait the 2-4 minutes it took for either of the monsters to change area on its own. If I were to personally say what made me love old MH so much, it was all the small hurdles everywhere that I had to overcome to finally beat what I wanted to beat. And not only that, even when fighting the same monster again, the fight is both more fun (because you always learn new things about the fights) and yet still meaningful, cause you need the materials you get from it. Also, as someone who has beaten most of the main online portions of GenU solo, the difficulty is another part of it. Even if you are playing alone in the online portions, the battles often do not drag out too much, unless you only focus legs instead of actual weakspots. Actually, solo Iceborne has online GenU difficulty, it takes me 20 mins to beat most iceborne monsters, and maybe a few minutes more for most GenU G-rank monsters when you don't have the armor skills and weapon damage. Anyways, old MH is definitely something of an experience if you have not tried it before. Definitely worth a shot, although you need to be prepared for it to feel extremely clunky at first before you get used to the old animations and it starts feeling smooth again.
@JeanKP14Ай бұрын
@@zeehero7280 Many of us remember that well. It makes you wait to do those things until you think you're actually safe to. As well as utilize the skills that make them happen faster, if you just can't cut it against faster monsters. Anyway, "legacy" Monster Hunter is more specifically separated by preparation being a NECESSITY. this is no longer the case in World+, because you can return to base camp and access ALL your items. Many fans still feel this gives you too much safety, there is never a risk of running out of healing items, or accidentally forgetting antidotes or cool and hot drinks and being fucked and just having to deal with it. It made you learn to play better, remember to bring your shit, and focus on learning to get hit less because your heals are limited.

@Apotheosister Жыл бұрын
I just beat Ahtal-ka, very long, over thought, kinda stupid gush ahead, probably with some errors too, skip if you want. I absolutely adore the mirror match this monster is, Glavenus, Nakarkos, Valstrax and Ahtal-ka all can represent a hunter. Glavenus uses a huge sword, it sharpens frequently and when it charges it's devastating, they're still a huge beast with burning blasts of fire, they were naturally given power and they've mastered it. Nakarkos is a freak of nature, they come from an abyss, sea or space and obliterates monsters and airships, they literally use dead parts, bones or otherwise to mask and defend itself, they're undeniably powerful but they strengthen itself with materials. Valstrax is a bit more abstract but still a bit in theme, it's all or nothing, all of their attacks are predictable and powerful but vulnerable too, when it miss, it misses hard and it has to recharge, it's a extreme Glavenus, extremely strong with a a extreme downside too. Ahtal-ka is this idea put to the max, it's not threatening at all for it's point in the game, she's literally a stupid bug, a neopteron. She's not big at all, no elemental powers, she doesn't look dangerous at all. The most deadly thing it looks like she has is her claws, which doesn't compare to the previous monsters. But she has silk, intelligence and skill, hunters are near super-human but they're still human, without weapons they can't fight, without armor they can't survive, without items they cannot sustain but with materials, intelligence and skill they can overpower anything, they weren't naturally given these things but they've earned it all, through the loop of the hunt, endlessly learning, fighting and crafting they can slay anything. Ahtal-ka is a hunter, she has mastered her silk, her sole tool of survival, she has her blades but just like your arms can they compare to the strongest foes? Silk is her most powerful tool and she uses it to deadly efficiency, she has destroyed everything in her path and earned powerful weapons and armor all to use against you. You are both each other's final boss, the last obstacle to overcome, you might get challenged again by stronger opponents but after this, one of you will become so much more powerful. You both destroyed everything in your path, harvested all you can, and is challenged by the other. The empress's throne is her armor, her best chance at survival, to outlast the opponent attacks, but also her ultimate trump card akin to the dragonator, ballista or demolisher, it will either delay or end you. After it falls all she has is her tools and her mastery. Could you imagine if a monster just destroyed your armor? The thing you've spent days preparing? And all you have left is your weapon and anything you can scrounge up? Even if you'll probably lose you'll still try your best, and pure desperation might win. You're both the underdog, stronger than most, you can slay small creatures with nothing but kicks or slashes, but it's unlikely you can beat large monsters exclusively with your limbs. But using what you earned, through hard work you can kill anything. But after everything, all your training, crafting and fighting is challenged, only one of the scavengers will walk out alive, able to truly become powerful, and it's going to be you. Thank you for reading my long and kinda cringe thoughts, I just really like this monster, her fight is hype and over analyzing is fun!

"The strangest part about this incident was that the unidentified monster took parts of the outer wall and streets, leaving nothing behind as it assaulted the fortress. The fortress guards and hunters were hot on the monster's trail, but it suddenly vanished during the pursuit." "The Hunter's Guild figured since it stole material from the fortress that it was looking to create armor for itself, but couldn't figure out how something so giant could escape without a trace." "Eventually, they did discover where the monster was hiding and was surprised to learn its true identity. Rather than a giant elder dragon, a large bug monster was the creature that raided the other fortress, which is why they had a hard time finding it." "A mysterious monster that wasn't discovered until recently, Ahtal-Ka is a large mantis-like neopteron with a royal appearance. The ancient surface of her shell gives off a mysterious beauty that can't easily be rivaled." "Ahtal-Ka has sharp, sickle-like forelegs that allow her to slash at foes. Although her blades look gorgeous, they have outstanding cutting abilities. Although Ahtal-Ka uses them as weapons, she primarily uses them for manipulating her silk." "Like spiders, Ahtal-Ka produces fine silk in her abdomen. Golden in color, this silk has a crystalline pattern that makes it quite valuable and has amazing tensile strength, making it a useful tool for picking up objects and attaching it to her back." "Ahtal-Ka uses her silk in various ways, often using debris in her environment as a weapon against attackers. She'll either pull an object out of the ground using her silk before attacking or drag one towards her location and attach it to her back." "She often has multiple silk threads spread around her lair, and her silk is also strong enough to hold a whole fortress together. One individual apparently raised up a fallen castle's fortress from the sands with her silk overnight." "Ahtal-Ka is considered to be quite intelligent for a monster, which scares some humans, and this is further exemplified by this monster's mobile nest." "Ahtal-Ka prefers to build her nest with the best possible materials she can obtain. Ahtal-Ka's kind used natural materials like rocks and trees to craft their nests in ancient times, but, as humans further developed, they began to switch to other materials." "Much like some birds, Ahtal-Ka finds that man-made material is better and stronger than the natural material found in her habitat, so she sees human structures as the best option for building the perfect nest for herself, and this is the reason why she raided the fortress." "Depending on the habitat and material available, the appearance and structure of an Ahtal-Ka's mobile nest will vary from individual to individual." "As an Ahtal-Ka grows up, it'll encounter all sorts of creatures and, when mature, it'll base the appearance of its nest on powerful creatures it encountered during its youth. The one we encountered in-game based the appearance of her nest on a wyvern or dragon." "The "Empress' Throne" is controlled by Ahtal-Ka herself. By sticking herself in the center of her nest, Ahtal-Ka is actually capable of fully controlling the Empress' Throne's movements with her silk before crushing foes with the giant contraption." "While in the Empress' Throne, she is practically invulnerable to all incoming attacks, but this nest has one major weakness, however. The golden silk used for controlling it can be cut, which causes her to lose control of her nest if enough of her strands are destroyed." "If a large amount of the silk on the nest is cut, the Empress' Throne will topple to the ground, thus leaving it vulnerable to more attacks, and Ahtal-Ka will have to quickly produce more silk to regain control over it." "Although Ahtal-Ka can still use the Empress' Throne, she can't keep refortifying it. As long as some of her silk remains intake on the nest in combat, she can still use it, but if the Empress' Throne sustains too much damage, it'll fall apart completely." "The Empress' Throne found in-game wasn't completed by Ahtal-Ka yet, and it could've been made two times larger if she was allowed to further develop it. Although it's incomplete, the Empress' Throne even dwarfs Lao-Shan Lung." "When the Empress' Throne is pulled out of the ground, a large amount of sand and silk is sent flying into the air. The strong wind currents will carry this debris into the air, causing the locale's appearance to dramatically change. " "When the young reach a certain age, each one of them will take a single part off their mother's mobile nest before leaving her behind to start their own lives. The taken part will be used by them on their travels." "Athal-Ka produces a fragrant liquid pheromone from her body that's scent can be detected for miles. Which means Ahtal Ka does have more than enough strength to suplex the entire monster Hunter roster individually with the exception of maybe Dalamadur and Leviante. Like her lifting strength is INSANE And it’s funny af to visualize Ahtal-ka WWE slamming a Lao Shan Lung which is entirely plausible

Before I play MHXX, I already know Ahtal-ka fight, I know the mecha, I not understand why this insect has to be final guild hall quest. I understand Amatsu one of the most memorable fight in 3rd, I remember vividly the tension of Alatreon then I kinda forget MHXX/GU, I only play until HR village and stuck how to unlock fated 4 quest for each village, so I left the game I play World until get bored easily at endgame, then I remember XX I rushed to finish all village, then hunt local with my friend from LR to G-rank I know Ahtal-ka already, so Im not really rushed to hit the endgame of XX/GU Then I reach the final quest, actually I like guild quest better than village, its straight forward, here all keyquest and this urgent. In village u need to clear all sub-keyquest to unlock keyquest, increase village- yeah what ever So I solo my first hunt with Valor CB (Max CB Maccau), full mepot + back up, full maxpot + back up, dust of life, ancipot, kinda default elder hunt cuz that what I expect, just another unique final monster but boy was wrong, its not a hunt, its a battle, a proper final stand to proof you are a hero 0:00 So i fight, both my palico are fighters, that insect scream first sound laughable, when U realize that big metal bar hit like a isekai truck- its scare me like baby 2:17 then second phase, the mecha is coming together, I know this will be happen but I dont know that sand blast hurt more than she left me. I dont know there is dragonator until 4th hunt so I focus destroying that wheel 0:00 third phase, now I understand his scream, its not an intimidation, its a respect that we are worthy opponent for him, his attack more faster with dragonator, so I run out quickly of heal items 2:17 second of second phase, I play so safe, now this is real sheet, I cant waste 20 minutes hunting insect, I desperately hitting his main cocoon with CB, I screaming like him and cursing this bug for spamming that stupid perfume = PROOF OF A HERO = then 5:30 kick in, my bone chilling, my strength has filled with demondrug, my valor has permanently active (not really) Now its showdown, that spinning dragonator charted me so many times, that unlimited blade work make me trap on web anytime, but the song wont stop until I finish- my guts make me never give up, my 10 years of playing this franchise wont stop me stop hitting A and B 5:49 = PROOF OF A HERO = u know the rest, when u surpass metal gear, when all wall collapse and the web flow to the sky, when carve button appear After all of this journey, you are the hero

All of the Ahtal-Ka encountered in-game are female, though it's unknown what a male Ahtal-Ka looks like." " Sources: 1. Don't have much hope for it since the monster itself isn't too memorable... other than of course its abilities and how it fights. It doesn't seem to be amongst GenU's fan favorites which everyone quotes like Mizutsune or Glavenus. But... I *REALLY* hope GenU isn't the last we see of Ahtal-Ka. It's such an interesting monster with such interesting and badass abilities. Living amongst old ruins and using age old hunter tools against you like the Dragonator, and a giant mech which I feel like _could_ have been a mild reference to the Equal-Dragon-Weapon (a giant mech puppeteered by strings which was included in a non-canon concept art book).

The only monsters that I can think of who can stand against Ahtal-Ka even if she posses a complete Ahtal Neset mobile nest, should be the Mohrans (since her nest can be found in huge desert area). The gigantic sand whale Elder Dragon that inhabits locales with a vast desert. Not only they have the size and mass to compete with the Neset, but also their ability to 'swim' in the sea of sands at such a fast pace makes them a formidable opponent. They can just swim under the sand and burst out from it to ram Ahtal Neset with their gigantic tusk that could deliver a fatal blow to the nest when it hits. Especially since Jhen & Dah'ren Mohran lore wise are known to destroy fortresses by ramming them with their tusks.

So mh gen has a whole thing with rivalries and tools. We see it in the fatal four. Astalos is a Direct Rival to Rathalos and Rathian, and even utilizes an element theyre notoriously weak to. Gammoth is the rival to Tigrex, and is fucking huge with lots of extremely thick fat and fur Mizutsune is the rival to Zinogre, taking ample opportunity to fuck with it, toy with it, and strip it of its mobility. At first, it doesn't look like Glavenus has a rival. In the opponening, it never fights any monsters. Well thats a simple explanation: the rival is *you*, the hunter. He has tools adapted specifically to fight *you*. Its a monster that uses weapons (it even has to sharpen sometimes!) Nakarkos is a further evolution of the Glavenus idea. Instead of just being a monster with a tool, it is a monster that specifically uses monster parts as tools: EXACTLY what we've been doing for hours and hours. Valstrax is again another iteration, a bit more abstract and specific this time. Valstrax is a monster that uses hunter arts! I mean, look at the things nutty ass moveset and tell me divebomb isnt a hunter art. Ahtal Ka, at first, is nothing. Its a bug. Until the very famous mech. Its also the pure and utter antithesis to a hunter. Our complete opposite. It is a monster that uses broken bits of airships to fight: it is a monster using **human parts**. And that's why generations is my favorite monster hunter game ever.
