Ah, that is beautifully drawn, Ruth! Now I want to make some graphite powder and try it for myself. Have you tried it darker leads, like 6B, too? Or do you find HB optimal?

Thank you! I haven't tried 6B. HB graphite powder is what I'm using and I think if you add a couple of layers you can achieve the desired depth. If you need a super dark look, there is such a thing as charcoal powder. Or you can grind down a charcoal stick to make your own since you hardly ever need more than a tiny amount.
