-- DEAR GROWN-UPS --
You have probably noticed that a search on KZbin for 'beginning art' or 'step-by-step drawing' for kids that both the art and even the artist are computer generated.
Virtual graphics has its place in learning, but nothing beats the tactile experiences that gifts children to develop their fine motor skills, sensory inputs, creativity, and focus in an ever increasing world of distractions.
I am a real person drawing with real art supplies; control Z is not an option. Instead of music alone, I add fun sound effects, my art as animation, and positive reinforcement to encourage kids to engage their imaginations and follow their 'art.'
Draw with Elena teaches preschoolers, kindergarteners (year R), elementary (primary) school, special needs (exceptional children), and even grown-ups (yes, YOU) that art isn't exclusive and unattainable; it's relaxing and brings us happiness.
-- ABOUT ELENA MICHEL --
I have nearly 20 years of professional architectural design and sustainability consultation experience. I had the unique opportunity to begin my career in England. We returned to America in 2009, in North Carolina. I relocated to Florida to live closer to Disney and be Mickey Mouse's neighbor.
I come from a family of educators and artist. During my career I have enjoyed opportunities to classroom teach K-12, guest lecture for higher education and peers, and create both graphic and instructional design.
I have found that the older we get the more art feels like it is best left to the professionals. We put so much pressure on ourselves to meet the highest standards of every area of our lives that we forget how great just draw for fun is. So grown-ups - don't be shy - come Draw with Elena!
