Even though we talk about all this like all the time, these Q&As be my low key fave lolol

I was recommended to you by KZbin today and I just have been in awe of how talented you are. It gives me so much hope and inspo to create in my own way. I definitely will be supporting you and your shop! I was in IT as well and left my job. Now I’m really wanting to tap into my creativity. I’m so thankful to have found your channel.

I love your thoughts on being multifaceted and possibly joining up with another company and team. I’ve taken a break from my corporate career, and appreciate the challenges you may be facing. I love doing my art, yet miss the dynamics that come from team interaction: shared mission, brainstorming, and support. I’m new to you and look forward to your next video. Your answers were so right on-valuable advice. The answer to the last question involves working on your business, not just in it, in other words all that “free work” is what businesses do for us when we’re employees. I think a lot of artists (and others) crave freedom to create, and forget it’s as important to be a business person.

Great Q&A and another great piece! 😍 I just love watching your illustrations come together. P.S.: Thank you for sharing that “Find Layer” tip during this illustration’s live. It helped me soooo much with my last piece!

Such great tips! I am a kids and family photographer and I get so discouraged with the rollercoaster that is entrepreneurship and business owning. I thank God for my “day job” because my business remains my passion project but I do have goals for my business. I will be interested to see how you blend your work life and business now that you have momentum in your business.

Thanks so much love!! Entrepreneurship is all about pivoting and being open to change so that you can grow! You’re 1,000% on point about keeping your job and letting it fuel your business/passions! Thanks again for sharing and joining me on this journey! ♥️

I think an illustrator can also be a good graphic designer. To me it's all about creativity. There are also logos that have a complex and simple version.
@SheMeetsCity2 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Some are great at both - I think I wanted to highlight that some specialize in one skill more than the other ♥️

Did you attend any courses to grow your skills on illustrations?

I didn't! I'm self-taught :) But have taken a bunch of classes on Skillshare, watched YT tutorials, etc

Thank you for being real and transparent though it is a bit concerning to hear that you decided to go back job hunting. But it is understandable being an Entrepreneur can be taxing. And it is always smart to have more than one stream of income. But I can't help but feel a bit melancholic that you decided to make that move. Good luck and hopefully you will still grow your personal business.

Thanks for your comment and for watching! I think part of being transparent is taking into account that real life happens. I started a biz right before the pandemic hit and while that helped to catapult some ppls biz forward, that wasn’t my reality. And going back to corporate is not a failure in my eyes - it’s adjusting so that I can sustain my business through these uncertain times. 🙏🏽

The same with joining a larger team. May say you have to split your pay, but you're splitting your pay with making less work doing all the other admin work that you're not even proficient in (cause you don't have time). I wish more artists was more transparent with this. too many make it sound like they do it all on their own untill you look at the fine print in their resume/website that they are part of a collective or have reps.

Right!! And it’s totally ok to be “on contract/retainer” or work with a larger agency, but that’s not the same as a one person show, ya know? And while I love the freedom, control, and working solo a lot - I also miss that aspect of structure and having a team to support me on larger projects/ideas! ♥️
