This turned out so beautiful! I couldn’t help but think of how cramped my hand would be after using on colored pencils for a piece of that size😂I would’ve caved and reached for the blue Posca. I’m not surprised you went through 2 blues! But it’s stunning, so well worth it!

Thank you!! Haha, my hand was just fine but my back hurt like hell after this lol. Yeah not gonna be drawing at this size for a while 😂

Hi! Found your channel through your studio tour. And now it's lovely to watch how you create these beauties -- your work is wonderful! Had to comment on this one because I grow and forage for fiddlehead ferns here, and they're coming into season exactly as I watch this video! 😂 They do taste a little like asparagus. If you haven't seen it already, you might be interested to look at what a mature asparagus plant looks like too -- it unfolds to a beautiful frondy fern with red berries. As a fellow plant lady, thought you might like that. Thanks for sharing your process and making such relaxing videos!

Wow, thanks for sharing so much of your plant knowledge! Just googled the mature asparagus plant and now I see why asparagus ferns were given the name 🌿

hey this might be a really stupid question to ask but how do you figure out the colour combinations? like which colour to put where? btw this was an fine piece of illustration, the details and everything chef kiss 🤌✨
@kesalt Жыл бұрын
Tyson!! 💕 It's not stupid at all! I think typically my mind works best with analogous colors so for this one, blues, greens, yellow, orange. The cobalt/ultramarine blue definitely stuck out to me as the base color and then the other colors sort of followed suit. But I'd say this one was also inspired by medieval tapestries so I took some cues from those palettes as well!

How do you make sure that you dont smude the colour with your hand? Looks like you put quite some pressure on the pensil
@kesalt Жыл бұрын
Good question! Let's see, I think lightly blowing away pencil shavings helps each time I finish with a color area, but also trying to decrease the amount of surface area of my palm resting on the paper, or resting it on a surface without preexisting pencil color.

I’m curious to know how you choose your color palette??
@kesalt Жыл бұрын
This one started from a vague idea in my mind, but I knew I wanted to have lighter, somewhat pastel colors pop against a darker blue. I also got some of the idea from photos I've seen that show what bees see when they look at flowers!
