Very Good. I was searching for how "partial" a partial blockout installation of undermount slides could be. As far as the difference between Pro and DIYer slides. I would add the DIYer slides are the same no doubt as you said. However, The pro's don't get screws, brackets, clips or even instructions. They just get the side. Where the DIYer gets sort of a kit.

I haven’t yet had the need to lubricate. I my slides, there was enough lubricant - I think if you buy good quality slides and the room is not extremely dusty, you don’t need to lubricate.

Good day sir, interesting detail, @7:51 how far should be the wood away from the other side? 🤔
@holzhandwerk_ak4 жыл бұрын
I think the standard measure is half an inch or 12,7 mm. At least that’s what it was on every slide I’ve used so far. The measurement is given on the package of the slide, though so you don’t have to remember that.

I don’t know - it wouldn’t help you much anyway because it’s unlikely you’ll get the exact same one. When you buy, the max load should be named on the label.

Hi. Thank you for the informative video. One quick question. Is it possible to install the hinged slides partially in the groove on drawer carcass sides?
@holzhandwerk_ak3 жыл бұрын
I suppose that would work even though the material of the carcass would get very thin in the groove possibly giving you trouble with the screws.
@shaileshjohar55343 жыл бұрын
@@holzhandwerk_ak I anticipated that, so I doubled the sides with another 9mm sheet. Worked well, though it was difficult to line the slides at first.

I've built a frame for some art work I created. I was going to use the frame and art to hide a small wall safe underneath it and thought about using the bearing slides mounted to the top and bottom of the frame but wasn't sure if it would work or if there was a more effective way to use this sliding mechanism idea.
@holzhandwerk_ak4 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if this is going to work, in this video Tom shares his experience with just such a setup and it didn’t work very well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqTGY6qjlNuUm5I - so perhaps you can find special slides for top/bottom mounting or try a different solution.

Thanks for the informative video Andreas. I'm trying to find a ball-bearing drawer slide with an unusual capability. As you seem to be all over drawer runners, I ask you, have you ever come across a ball-bearing drawer runner that allows you to open the drawer from both sides. A drawer runner that closes so that all of the layers are over the top of each other but then can be pushed further to start extending the other way. My wet saw has plain old ball-bearing runners which look the same as standard bearing runners except for that extra functionality described above. Looking forward to your response. If you know of them, could you please let me know what they are called so that I can hunt them down. Cheers Ciaran

Thanks for the info. Am I right in thinking that the middle ball bearing one (the one most people use) parts are identical? i.e there is not a right and left piece?

Yes, they are identical.

I'm trying to work out how to remove the ball bearing drawer once it is in situ.
@holzhandwerk_ak Жыл бұрын
There should be a small lever or knob on the side of the slide when the drawer is pulled out. Press it or move it and you unlock the slide and can then pull out the drawer.

Which one is good for at least 45 to 50 kg?
@holzhandwerk_ak4 жыл бұрын
You can get the full-extension ones in extra sturdy. But the highest weight-support I’ve found is 45 kg. I suppose you’d have to do some research into heavy-duty drawers slights.

Why is one side different then the other on the first ones you explained? The right is different then the left. It's more curved to catch the wheel
@holzhandwerk_ak2 жыл бұрын
In the video you only ever see one of the sides with two pieces: one gets attached to the carcass of the cabinet, the other to the drawer. So that’s why the two pieces are different.

Andreas Kalt der große Vorteil der rollschubauszüge ist die einfache Montage an der Unterkante der Schublade und der Umstand dass diese sehr große maßtoleranzen verkraften, ohne zu klemmen.

Nice video! The partial ball bearing slides are awful. They have no load bearing capabilities at all. Even on a socks drawer the deform and no not work correctly in very little time. Since there are no other drawer slides that fit on dressers/drawers intended to use these partial ball bearing drawer slides, I replaced the drawer slides on couple of dressers with wooden runners from maple. These runners then slide into the grooves on the sides of drawers. Much better and maintenance free.

The plastic bits and balls came out of my slides . I am not a carpenter. what happened here? I put WD 40 in.

I suppose the liquid WD 40 lubricated too much and rinsed out the balls. Normally, you’d lubricate with grease which is stickier.

@@holzhandwerk_ak I had some understairs storage drawers fitted and one of them, in particular is very heavy. It is very difficult to pull out and with all the MDF it must be around 30kg in itself. It's just for shoe storage so nothing heavy. It's a kind of triangular shape in the smallest part of the understairs and about 90cm wide. They have put in 2 pairs of runners - all about 35mm in height, and I don't think they are going to last. I have told the installer to go and find more robust runners which I am hoping will make the drawer lighter to pull and get more longevity. Am I right in doing so? What should I insist on?

The second one, the ball bearing type made by Everbilt is absolutely crap. Fully extended the arms want to separate. It's totally junk, and not worh the time to install. Yes, there are ball bearings, but they hardly slide on the ball bearings. They slide on the tracks like the cheaper one, the first pair you displayed. The middle one is junk. Do you know of a good slide set for long drawers, not just kitchen cabinets, but more like a wooden file cabinet. The original slider set had the exact one installed, and I replaced them, only to still have them separate. It was junk from the beginning, and the second one is junk as well. Not worth the effort to bother with them..THEY ARE NOT HIGH QUALITY. I LIVED WITH THEM, AND THE NEW ONE I BOUGHT IS GOING BACK TO THE HARDWARE STORE WHERE I FOUND THEM. THE BRAND IS EVERBILT, AND THE BEARINGS DON'T EVEN ROTATE. DOESN'T MATTER THAT THEY'RE THERE...JUST FOR LOOKS
