Rob C. I might be late but this way of thought disguist me. There is no such thing as "talent". I'm sure his only talent is an ability to never stop on improving and practicing. Drawing is a simple skill and in order to aquire it you have to force yourself and learn, learn, learn, improve and never stop. Most important of all you don't have to compare yourself to others and if you do use it as inspiration and as an example that those who are better simply never stopped learning and you should do the same

+Sir Potatto This must have been an off day. The struggle to keep improving daily can also bring its ups and downs. This might've been an emotional response but it was my feeling that some of these videos don't actually help but only discourage. See the act of drawing is easy but realism is a true talent. Not that the talent cant be earned but there is some form of natural ability in play as well. Also this can be the kind of place where one learns to seperate a hobby from their true calling which I believe I have much to learn still.

There are people who are talented , and develop their talent to the max. There are people who just aren't made to draw , some are amazing musicians , some are amazing car drivers. To each one it's talent... You can learn how to draw well , but if you don't have this sparkle inside of you , you won't achieve master level. That's all I can say. A window in your soul must be opened in order to develop something , something that you like and something that you have predisposition for. You must be willing to improve , and if it isn't something you really like , then you will probably quit. And that something you really like , it's called talent. Because you are willing to spare very much time enjoying to improve. I don't believe in "talent is everything" bullshit theory. It's like either you have it or not , I believe in hard work but also believe in predisposition of your personality. All that matter is what you choose to do and never quit. ;)

It mostly is just talent, and for this specific reason. If people don't have an immediate talent and skill for something, many just give up. And for the few that don't, they continue to quit later in because they look at videos of amazing artists that they compare themselves to. And when that happens, the vast majority quit. That's just the way humans are. They give up easily. So while it is hard work, you have to have a natural talent to improve on.

My problem when I do coloring, other than the fact that I am colorblind, is that I always get grainy color from the pencils, so now I try to paint or use markers when I can. What would you recommend I do to get smooth colors like yours?

there is a technique called burnishing and using odorless paint thinner to blend colored pencils, you can learn more about it online to create that paintery look
