the best way to build a interstellar spaceship is long, and im talking really freacking long, with a thick projectile shield in the front, probably multiplayered armor plates from steel because its pretty cheap, with a thick titanium plate at the lowest layer of the armor. spaceships are awesome, your drawing is pretty awesome as well

As you were writing that list I was combing it for really interesting combinations and I was excited for a moment that the ship was equipped with "Grade School Targetting Pods" which are used to get all the kids off the ship in a reverse Kids Next Door kind of way... Totally the thinking expected of a captain forced into the position at the age of 1: "If kids will be used by the adults then I will make sure they can go somewhere else where they can have the childhood that I will never have." Great drawing by the way!

I believe there are a few reasons you might want a cylindrical rocket instead of a spherical one. For one, cylinders rotate in a stable way on only two main axes whereas a sphere can rotate on any rotational axis. Furthermore, ships may need to be more balanced in shape than the one you drew because the center of thrust has to line up with the center of mass otherwise you would produce a torque that would induce unwanted rotation.

Hey man, as long as you can get the ship to space, it can be any shape you want, there is no air resistance in space so shape makes no difference, the only thing you will need to do is make sure that the ships thrust is balanced, as not to send yourself into an infinite spiral of interstellar doom and also, that ship would never be able to enter an orbit, it would tear itself apart but could definitely serve purpose as a staple freighter or "town". Amazing drawing though geez, your ability to just slap lines on random places across the page then have them all come together is admirable.

Antenna length and shape affects the wavelength and signal quality, so feel free to put crazy antennas on spaceships! We tend to put them in high up places for line-of-sight reasons like you said, but the length of the antenna is more related to the frequency than anything else so they should look fairly similar whether they're on land or in space.

While your spaceship doesn't need to be aerodynamic, it does need to be photodynamic to lessen the drag caused by photons hitting your ship. You'll notice the difference the closer you get to light speed. You wouldn't want all those gaps allowing photons to bounce around, you also would need it to be more compact to lower the surface area further.

Our brave captain probably equips the ship with warp tech technology but if she didn’t you might want to have the ship really long and skinny bc there is still a tiny bit of gas in space which starts having an effect at super high interstellar speeds plus you can have less surface area exposed to micro meteorites so putting all the goods behind a little shield in front makes sense!
@teslainvestah50035 ай бұрын
a city is a collection of modules for different purposes. They aren't spheres, they are built around routes for physically transporting people and things between their modules. So there are great reasons to make a non-atmospheric ship that isn't a sphere. It could be shaped like a city.

Im far more intrigued by what a "Light Colony" might be though. Also because the english language is weird that way, "light" would have to come before "far-range" and "orbital" for the discription to work your way.
