At 3:45, you were able to adjust the dimension of the building size after you set it- how did you do that? I am using Mac and trying to learn Sketchup- thanks! And also this video is really very clear and good inform, even though I am deaf and can't hear you talking if you are giving speech, it is still visual enough for me to follow what you are doing and trying to show.

Thank you. Instructions were very clear. Much better than loud "bang bang" music in the background.

These instructional videos are awesome. Thank you. One suggestion would be to avoid use of right click, triple click, control-z, or other "hidden" or platform dependent commands which may not be available or are difficult to remember (as opposed to selecting commands from the menus).

Snapping is when moving the cursor close to a certain location, SketchUp will automatically jump to it. For example, when copying a timber on the foundation, the corner of the timber will snap to the corner of the foundation when it moves close to it.

Really helpful. Thanks! Curious about nominal vs actual dimensions when doing this kind of sketch -- i.e. an 8x8 is 7-1/4"x7-1/4" actual.

Timbers (at least in the northeast) are usually dimensioned to their nominal size (for example an 8x8 measures 8"x8".

I have an Android app called 5d and it works AMAZING..maybe it doesn't have the extensive capabilities as SketchUp but for a free app I am able to do all but maybe one or two things in this video. I have made many floor plans and 3D walk throughs on the app. If you want o e for your phone, as I do not know if SketchUp offers a Android app, then 5d is definitely worth checking out.

at 5:24, you made few copies of posts.. Exactly where did you type to produce more copies?

With version 7 you can do all the functions in the video. To get more icons, select View->Toolbars->Large Tool Set.

I'm not sure I understand your question. My best guess is that you are asking how to make a copy. Selection what you want to copy, select the Move/Copy tool, press Ctrl and then move a copy away from the original.

Dimensions of any drawing operation can be changed by simply typing the new dimensions. Typing will appear in the Dimensions box (you don't have to click in that window to activate it). But keep in mind that after you've done another drawing operation, the dimensions of the previous operation cannot be changed.

"Move/Copy tool, press Ctrl and then move a copy away from the original." then the "/3 Enter" will work...Thanks for the video.

What do you mean by "snap"?

I think you missed stating this in the video " Move/Copy tool, press Ctrl and then move a copy away from the original."

Thanks for the tutorial. Your tutorial might be more helpful if you noted the tool change. It's more difficult to follow your instructions because you're using the shortcut key to change tools.

I made it by myself. I used woodprix woodworking plans for that.
