As far as Bismuth knew Rose was literally famous for smashing a Diamond so she was really just emulating Rose and then got upset at the hypocrisy and was bubbled for it. Which is basically death if they never get unbubbled. Spending the rest of eternity in a timeless limbo

Yes. Rose wasn't above shattering, they were at war, it wouldn't make sense to hold a pacifist stance in such a scenario. It's just clear that despite their different mindsets she didn't want her sisters killed, the pacifist thing was just the excuse she gave.

I thought about it a little bit and my problem with this scenario is that because of the situation everyone on her rebellion died. "You can't kill my sisters." "But your sisters killed thousands of us!" "Huh..." No, worse. They shattered the rebell gems and made them into a giant weapon. I don't know. It makes sense, year, but the whole situation is messed up.

I’m with bismuth. With the information she had the only way to stop the diamonds was to take them down. It would have lead to the same outcome anyway since the other 3 would try to destroy earth but if they actually used bismuth’s plan they would have had more time to prepare. I think murder is wrong 99% of the time but in this case bismuth was justified to take drastic action to protect her people from a dictator. Also great artwork, love how your coloured her gem!

Tbh I'm totally with bismuth here,everything that bismuth knew about the diamonds was that they were mad dictators who wouldn't even have a second thought when shattering an innocent gem only because she did something as normal as fusing with another gem,and actually that's what they actually were,the diamonds hurt millions of gems and colonized millions of planets and because of that I don't believe they should have had a second chance,bismuth shouldn't have been bubbled for all of that time only because she wanted to protect her friends and other innocent gems.

I think problem with this idea is not only are we stooping to the enemies level, but also that it would mean the Crystal Gems might have have innocent gem shards on their hand. As we seen in the show, not all the gem that served the Diamonds are bad. They sometimes are confused, lacks understanding, and misguided. Of course, this doesn’t apply to all gems, but still a good portion. Another thing is it’s shown Yellow Diamond putting back gems even by little shards. I know this information wasn’t until very late in the show and it seems to required all the shards, but it gives a little hope that some gems could be reformed and put back together.

I think in a world where your enemies could be bubbled and stored indefinitely in a moderately sized storage unit, its unethical to permanently kill these gems. If a gem can't be reasoned with, they still need to be able to take responsibility for their actions. Killing them is an absolution

Gems appear to still be semi-conscious when in pieces (while the cluster gems may have been altered, Frybo had shards animating a costume and the bird creature in Giant Woman had shards for gemstones, additionally Jasper knew she had been shattered and not poofed after being revived) and just cease to be as a person when in this state. Meanwhile they’re completely unconscious when bubbled to the point where Peridot finishes the sentence she started before poofing after being freed from her bubble. Bismuth had absolutely no time to think about her action inside the bubble, she didn’t even know how much time had passed.

I honestly think shattering the Diamonds is unnecessary even though they deserve it since they hold such valuable information about gem history, culture, origins,etc which Steven could benefit from especially with his powers, imprisoning them in some type of gem device of where they're still conious but to an extent of harmlessness, they deserve to perish but realistically they're more useful alive.

I think part of why she bubbled her was because she felt threatened. She probably knew bismuth wouldn’t hurt *her* but Bismuth specifically said she could shatter *pink diamond* with the weapon. So inside she still felt threatened.

@@rosesweetcharlotte i think that’s one of my favorite facets of rose’s character- even after being a literal diamond, being all-powerful for thousands of years, she still didn’t believe in herself to save everyone. she made the foolish decision to pass the responsibility onto someone who she believed would be better than her, being part human. she didn’t seem to consider at all that, yes, even though steven would end up fixing everything, he would end up being completely broken as a person.

I feel it’s important to remember that part of this problem was that Rose was lying about her identity. She started a war that pushed Bismuth to that point. War is very stressful (huge shock) and it makes sense that she got pushed to a “anything to end this war and win” mentality. I personally think they were both in the wrong with Bismuth being less so since she changed her tune really fast when allowed time to process her feelings and assess the actual situation

I think the take with Bismuth can be best explained with the series Arcane. Just because you have the weapon, doesn't mean you should use it. And just because you have the plans, doesn't mean you should make it. While you can break down a weapon, the damage of it's existance can never be erased. But having the plans and knowing you can make it could be enough. I like to think the only reason Rose bubbled bismuth was not because she made the weapon, but because she feared what would happen now if Bismuth learned the truth. Though I think if rose revealed she was pink diamond sooner, the rebellion would have felt more powerful because if a diamond could rebel, then they were equal. One a side note, I am at the edge of my seat for Lars. I know he's going to look cool regardless if you do post or pre pink. (And emerald)

My problem with a diamond "rebelling" the other diamonds will only see it as a tantrum while pink's court feel obliged to follow her because they're their diamond even if you told them to choose on their own it is like in their code, in the end the rebellion will only become a teenage rebellion that ends up with pink imprisonment in the tower

The rebellion will be torn to pieces no longer in unity, a civil war would even broke out, factions will be form, what was a united force fighting for freedom will turn into criminal gangs that are like rats hiding in the shadows

Bismuth is one of my favorite gems that badass! I even went out and got an actual bismuth stone to show how much I like her!! When the show was new I still like her but about the hole her wanting to shattered pink diamond uuuuhhh....well remember Rose was actually pink diamond at the time and was probably afraid of what bismuth would do if she found out. And honestly technically maybe there both in the wrong in a way but idk because there was a lot going like the war and everything. Either way I still like both and hoping Steven will eventually find self peace in his life and problems......btw I love your art thanks for talking about things while we watch you draw!!

I don't know where I am on the discussion. On one hand i believe violence always leads to more violence, and conflicts should be finished through negotiation. But the diamonds wouldn't mind killing them, and in a war you can't wait till the enemy agrees to negotiation when they are killing you. Having a weapon that big is also a form of defense for them who had the losing hand.

I agree with Bismuth to an extent, especially since the Diamonds at that point had no hesitation to shatter "lower" gems, the crystal gems would probably have to had resort to that if rose wasn't actually pink diamond. Of course if they had shattered them then nobody would know or be able to "heal" gems from being corrupted, cracked or shattered but Bismuth didn't know that at that point. If I only knew what Bismuth had I would've agreed 100%

Something very interesting that they did to the Bismuth character, is that the crystal element bismuth itself, is radioactive, it's a toxic element, until it's broken down to a safer element, because Bismuth is what is used in Tums, the antacid medicine, so making Bismuth's character traits kind of explosive, erratic, and toxic really fit with the characteristics of the actual physical Crystal element Bismuth

And the fact that rose quartz lied to basically all the Crystal gems, but Pearl, and forced Pearl to stay quiet. I feel a little bit that rose quartz emotionally and mentally manipulated Pearl. Before knowing what freedom was, Rose saw freedom from her own eyes, yet Pearl was still so idolized by rose quartz, she just wanted Rose to be happy, because that was her initial purpose, and I don't think she tasted freedom officially until Rose was gone

Another thing about rose quartz that I don't like is she has good things and she has bad things. For example she helped Ruby and Sapphire come together and let them know that being Garnet was okay. But I don't think she did it in the best of way. Being a fusion Garnet is a for basically a forever couple, so it's best to explain to someone that being a couple isn't just wanting to be together. It's about communicating, working together, talking about things you like and dislike, being in a relationship is a give and take. And especially because Garnett was fused all the time, being with your partner 24/7 is not healthy. Sometimes you need to be apart from another and be your own person (gem). And I don't feel that they ever really got a chance to do that. Because initially they were servicing the diamonds until they became Garnet they only really had about three interactions. And all of them were new and confusing loving and amazing as it was still I don't believe was enough for them to be fused 24/7.

Now when it comes to amethyst, from what I remember Rose found amethyst in a kindergarten, amethyst was left behind because she popped out late. And amethyst was alone for a very long time. And probably being alone for such a long time and amethyst became self-reliant and didn't feel that she needed anybody. Until later on when the gems found her did she finally get a true taste of family and friendship, and even then amethyst kind of entered a false fake "family" to begin with. Because she was the last one to join the Crystal gems. They were already set up and set in a very lying, toxic, environment

*spoiler alert towards the end* And on top of everything, after Steven is born, he is filled with so much love, and caring for the other gems, but also he goes through so much trauma and so much agony and emotional and mental turmoil constantly. Until Steven universe future, his anxiety and his depression and his need for self-identity is still haunting him, because he still hasn't fully felt 100% that he is Steven and not rose quartz. Steven goes through so much throughout the entire Steven universe series, that he goes through a lot of emotional and mental growth. So I'm glad that at *spoiler alert* at the end of Steven universe future, Steven moves away and starts a new chapter in his life away from the entire town, to hopefully finally become his own person with his own identity.

So I don't really agree with Bismuth, but Rose should've tried reasoning with her more instead of bubbling her away an never even mentioning it to the others. Also why hide her in Lion? I would've thought that she'd hide her in her room or really high in the bubble room of the temple. But that's just me probably. One more thing, this drawing is AMAZING! Great job!

I get that the war was tense, so there probably wasn't time to talk things out, but she could've freed Bismuth at any point afterwards. As far as I remember, we never find out if the gems are aware of what's going on around them when they're bubbled. When stuff about wrong and right is talked about a lot of people forget that you can't always do the right thing or when you're too desperate sometimes it's better to act in the "wrong" way. For the Cristal gems it was kind of a desperate situation. Homeworld could alway creat more gems and they didn't care about killing the Cristal gems. In bismuth eyes it was necessary and if it was reality, that would also have been the best option even if it's not right in a morality way. It was a war, and even if there's rules to follow in war it doesn't mean people are going to follow them. So it was not right in a morality way (would have been more right to bubble them away) but the best option in a context of war. It's always kinda make me angry when people just are like "but is was wrong they shouldn't have done that" yes it was wrong but you can't alway do the "right" thing sometimes it's just like that. (In SU case there was another option, bubbling them, but bismuth probably didn't want to just put them in a bubble when they would have shattered everyone of her friends without hesitated. Like "why would those murder have the right to just be bubble when my people would have been murder" situation)

I don't think shattering gems sits right with me personally, because they're also just doing what they're told, but the pressure should not JUST be on the crystal gems to "be the bigger people" when the other side is not willing to cooperate whatsoever. I'm somewhere in the middle. I get where Bismuth was going, and as far as she knew, Rose Shattered Pink. So her being against it could come off as really hypocritical. Honestly if Rose had told the gems the truth much earlier on and explained everything it probably could have been resolved. The shattering was an escape and her being Rose is who she wanted to be now cause she's been happier like that. I'm sure Bismuth would have been more open to hearing her out, if not just a bit heart broken or feeling a bit betrayed for a short while.

Steven enabling her feelings to defend someone he barely knew was the cherry on top, I don't think Bismuth was wrong since logically it would make sense that taking out the facist (Diamonds) would end their tierney across the galaxy.

I absolutely loved Bismuth and I do think that she would have been able to create a weapon for the war that was similar to the breaking point but didn’t break the gem but had the power of Rose’s sword to be fair. I do like Bismuth as a character and that episode specifically because it makes you question Rose Quarts doing. Also, I love your videos but could you do a character like smoky quarts I really like smoky quarts as a fusion but I also love side characters like Lars, Onion, Greg, or any other human character 🖤

There is another theory as to why bismuth was bubbled, which I like to think of alongside her idea of "shattering the enemy." Bismuth made Rose's sword, and made the Breaking Point later on. She was the only person besides Rose and Pearl who knew that the sword couldn't have shattered Pink Diamond because it was never designed to be strong enough to. Bismuth was bubbled partially to keep that secret. This also brings us to the other factor, being that Pink didn't want to shatter the other diamonds, because while it would win her the war, they were still her family. She loved them. That being said, she really just bubbled Bismuth to save the skins of the diamonds, including herself. Though honestly, I still dont think Bismuth was right for wanting to shatter gems, because that really made her no better than the gems she hated so deeply.

In steven universe every enemy can turn into good, like steven just have to talk to them very often and they change. I mean it's cute and we all hope that it works with everyone. But in reality I would be with bismuth, because u can't change everyone. Some people are just evil or hold on so tight on they're anger and hate that talking doesn't change anything. Also when u don't take the enemy's down btw don't kill them because u think that's evil, then the act of letting the enemys live is actually the evil act because when u don't kill them, they kill others and then it's ur fault too. (but in steven universe no one really dies, so it's difficult to say if it's really necessary to bring enemy's down. But I can understand bismuths motivation and would do the same)

Rose bubbled bismuth to protect her lie imo. The crystal gems were built on shattering and I think when rose heard "We should shatter your family and subjects if we have to" She panicked and literally got rid of the problem.

Bismuth had great points. She wanted to free gems from the Diamonds’ tyranny. There weren’t many options. And she was doing the best with what she had I think. Just the threat of using them probably would’ve at least rattled Homeworld at the time. So I think showing them off and not shattering everyone, would’ve done something. I still don’t think it’s “right”, but it definitely wouldn’t have made them as bad as homeworld even if they did use it in my opinion. That being said, the way that rose dealt with Bismuth was wrong. Even if she did it to hide her secret(or for whatever reason), bubbling her away without any plans to release her was a jerk move. All of Bismuth’s anger was understandable and justified. Her willingness to stand up to any force to protect her fellow gems and her friendly personality really makes me want to root for her tho. So I am a bit biased.

Honestly, i think that if it’s your life or theirs and you know they won’t hesitate, then you shouldn’t either, Bismuth was right, yes Rose had her point being a diamond she didn’t want to cause that chaos again, but sometimes it’s necessary when it’s your only chance at survival

My reasoning is in a sense bismuth was rationally thinking about killing them but in a moral sense no one should really die a villain isn't just a villain and a hero isn't just a hero sometimes the heroes in the wrong and sometimes the villains in the right

I personally am in the middle. Like- it's a complicated situation, and I don't really wanna side with anyone. Rose was deceiving Bismuth, which meant something like this was *going* to happen, but unnecessary shattering obviously isn't okay either. There's a lot of problems Rose could've solved far far easier, if she had just led the rebellion as the Diamond she was, rather than pretending to be a random-a Quartz soldier. The problem with that though, is that people just aren't going to think of the most effective solutions under pressure, (Haha, a Diamond was under pressure, I did not intend that, I'll see myself out) because it's just how we (and clearly gems too,) just are. So yeah, both sides were in the wrong in some ways, but in the right in others, and this whole thing is a mess because that's how the world frickin works. :p

If the crystal gems shattered any gem they would become what they hate in the end. Plus that would have had the war go on for much longer. It would have been much harder for the war to fix and for everyone to not be enemies
