Thks for your prompt answer, I didn’t realize was writing in my mother tongue. Fortunately you understood. I have two questions: that nib concord is fine or extrafine? Which other fountain pen can be used instead the F-C which is really expensive (around $180)? It looks fun to use that nib, is like a fude but oposite, but with better results, more sutil. Thks for your time.

@@felixsaezdeibarra ¡No hay problema! En realidad, siempre estoy buscando una oportunidad para usar el español. While there aren't any inexpensive options for pens that use Jowo #6 housing units, the nib itself will fit any pen that uses a #6 size nib. Quite a few inexpensive Chinese pens are good candidates, such as Asvine P36 or the V200.

Excellent!!! It's a tough choice between narration vs. free run drawing. Both have their unique advantages. Thank you Marc.

Heavens! A new pen. I use the back of a Falcon more or less like a concord. Great addition, Marc!

Thank you. I also use the Falcon that way, but the Concord gives you much more control.

@@mkompan I assumed you did! Great demo there, Sir. I'm sticking with my fudes for now;) Latest: a fude on a Platinum Preppy (eyedropper + fringed), and that works fabulously well for the price! Also, put another fude on a TWSBI Eco and added an overfeeder (thank you!) and I'm having lots of fun with it!

Awesome content as usual! Is there any way you could show the reference you are using for your drawings? Maybe in the top left corner? I think it would be useful so that we can see what rendering decisions you make and what you decide to leave out. Best content out there for pen and ink... Thank you!!!

Nice looking eyedropper demonstrator fountain pen! Cool! How does that fude nib perform compared to others you've used?
@mkompan4 ай бұрын
This nib is actually the reverse of a fude, since it's bent forward and not backwards. It functions very similarly to a fude, with one distinct advantage. When you hold a fude nib at a very flat angle, the feed scrapes against the paper. With this concord modification that doesn't happen.

I've never seen one before! This will be next on my wish list. Thanks! @@mkompan

Wonderful result, great learning aid. I vote for making this a regular feature of your channel. How does the Franklin Christoph pen with concord (?) grind compare with the Dukes and other cheap Chinese Fude pens you've presented before?
@mkompan4 ай бұрын
Thank you! For the most part, this functions exactly like a fude with one notable advantage: when you hold a fude pen at a very flat angle, the feed will scrape the paper (on some pens more than others). With the concord this doesn't happen, allowing you to make some very unique scrapey marks.

I'm on my knees brother... Wich is good because i have to seek for my jaw on the floor anyway. Marc, this is joy and privilage to watch your creation in real, natural time. Though i'm not good at drawing, i do notice constant improvement learning from your videos. I'm not a profesional artist and i could be wrong, but i sense that this video format, meaning real-time-speed drawing video, is valuable learnig / teaching method. Wish you all the best. Kind regards.

You're very kind. Though it requires much more patience from the viewer, showing the drawing in real time is a much better teaching method, narrated or not.

I try to follow your Value Form Texture (VFT) approach with my pencil and charcoal drawings. I note the Texture Form and Value order seems reversed for pen. Did I observe this correctly?
@mkompan3 ай бұрын
The juiciness of this pen and its unique mark making perhaps made me alter the order of things. When learning how to draw, it’s important to be systematic. But once you’ve acquired a degree of experience, you can be less systematic, as you’ve probably observed here. The important thing is not the order, which for the beginning artist helps maintain the value/form/texture hierarchy, but rather to maintain the hierarchy in your head as you draw. This will allow you to get strong results regardless of the order in which you do things.

Whence the Concord nib?

From the Toronto Pen Company. Fun nib, similar to a fude, but with slightly different mark making abilities.

I wanna ask, does drawing bigger or having continuous lines matter in ink art? I know these work for me in pencil, but find that ink tends to be more messy in execution of lines.
@mkompan4 ай бұрын
This is a question of style, so working larger or having continuous lines does not make a drawing better or worse. However, style should not be chosen on the basis of one's limitations, so if you're choosing to work smaller, and avoiding long lines only because it's difficult, then I think that's a problem.

Yes please more of this with no narration. sometimes the act on how to use art supplies says a lot more than words. I wish more youtubers would do this but I know - I can just mute it.
