OMG your talent just leaves me speechless ... I am really dying to ask these two questions: What is the knife sharp thing that you use after coloring a layer ? what is its purpose ? And my second question is, do you apply pressure on the pencil colors when you use them ? (I mean how perfect can the blending be) !! Thank you and keep it up

the "knife sharp thing" is a scalpel/precision craft knife and as you can see in the video it removes some of the color. This is how she makes the hair or skin texture. And the pencils she is using are softer than your standard pencil which helps with blending whilst only applying light pressure.

@@carpediem5232 adding onto the other people, the way im guessing she uses these softer coloured pencils is she lays down multiple different tones lightly like blues and reds and then goes on top of them with hard pressure to create an even blend, with these coloured pencils you will most likely not see heather use an actual skin toned pencil as she most likely mixes colours like red, blue and yellow in different amounts in order to create an imitation of a skin tone.

The knife is called X-acto knife. She used it to make highlights and small details like the lines of the skin and some small wrinkles. By using the knife, she removes that portion of color pencil because the brand of pencil she uses is wax based. The smooth blending needs loads of layers. It might look like it's just two colors but she actually used a lot of layers and colors, mixing them until she's satisified with the hue, ambiance, and how much it looks like the reference. And idk if she uses some colorless blender marker or what but you can evenly blend a skin tone by simply adding layers until you get that smooth skin. At some cases, you tend to use white color pencil for varnishing and adding minimal layers of shadowing and toning again to make the varnished color retain its previous color.
