Looks like the eyes were traced before you drew them? Eyes are the most difficult to capture so that the drawing looks like the person.

See here's the thing… Half the time the bottom of the circle goes under the nose… And here you have it right above the top lip…? Is it just random where you decide where the stuff goes? Because you don't seem to be following any pattern

For me, good drawing is not about achieving a reasonable facsimile of the source photograph. Instead, drawing should display purely personal and idiosyncratic line quality to express the meaning, or content, of the subject.

I completely agree with you. A good drawing is not just about accurately copying a reference image. Instead, the drawing should show the artist's personal and distinctive quality of line to express the meaning or content of the subject. A good drawing can help convey our feelings and thoughts about the world around us. When an artist can create a drawing that conveys our feelings or provokes our thoughts, then he or she has done a good job.

@@onepenciltutorial I think you misconstrued my point. I was trying to be as polite as possible. I said good drawing is NOT about making a facsimile of the source photograph. I did not say it is "not JUST" about copying a reference image. Two nearly opposite ideas. Furthermore, I think good drawing is preferably not even based on a source photograph. That is typically a crutch. Good drawing is about creating.
