Hello! In today's video, as per popular request, I will show you how I put together my custom watercolor palette. You can see me using this palette in my previous Drawing Time video where I draw an illustration for my friend Tianna.

xBlackEternity You don't need that many colours when you're starting out, 3 to 5 will do.

R. M. Fox i have about 24 colours right now and in terms of it being practical i think 5 won't be enough, you'll need to mix a lot and you can't get certain shades. Mine are pretty low quality though.

Sennelier la petite has 24 colors and its about 25-30$ its a student grade quality (comparible to sennelier's artist grade qual. Said most of the reviews)

I love watercolours! I use them all the time, in school and at home. There are pros and cons with both watercolour and acrylics. But with the way I paint I prefer watercolour!

i love watercolor, my favorite medium. The way the paint and water collide into a satisfying art piece is... satisfying. I also like using japanese watercolors and the Winsor and Newton cotman sets. I love the your videos btw :)

I really liked your color selections , I only have the 18 set. I would like to get at least the 45 or 60 set. The big set is a bit to much money for me but I do love your pallet. I find color swatching new materials and setting up a new palette very relaxing. I also make two. One I keep in a binder with each swatch separated by materials. (Watercolors, colored pencils, acrylics etc.) And one is kept with the materials or palette.

It depends what paints you use. Watercolours can always be reactivated.

Honestly, Holbein is an EXCELLENT artist grade colour, however, i must say, most of the yellow the hue are not very different from one another.

anyone got any tips on traveling with water paints? Like if a water brush pen would be a good investment because I'm seen them around and I kinda wanna get one for water painting but idk tbh

Eaden Jensen I got a set of three for like $6 and they are not very good. They leak some so I can't travel with them with water in them, but maybe a more expensive, better quality one would work, I'm hoping to get one soon

just a sculpting tool, but you can use anything that has a rounded end such as pencils, brushes etc

I made a custom palette last December, and because my handwriting is pretty bad, I used 9mm wide label tape on the side of each halfpan, so I had room to go with both brand, color name, and what pigments were in each individual color.

what a nice palette ! also, I have a concern about sealing a faceup, I just finished giving my minifee chloe a faceup but after I put everything in (eye lashes, tamiya clear gloss) I noticed that I would like to make more adjustments. Will it hurt the gloss and the eyelashes if I spray msc with them on?

Idk. Will taking off the eyelashes ruin the eyes? If not, I guess you can take off the eyelashes, then spray with MSC then re-add the gloss, and the eyelashes?

+Ai Ika yeah I had bad experience sealing on top of gloss and eyelashes. The eyelashes will turn hard and will get this white-ish colour around the tips. It is up to you, but I just don't apply eyelashes or gloss until I am 100%sure that I am happy

Nicolle's Dreams oh I see, thank you for confirming. One last thing, how was the effect of the sealant on the gloss? will it lose it's shine? I'm actually thinking of covering the eyelash then sealing it... again and promise to myself not to do this mistake again ( ´･ω ก` )

my experience was that the sealant sprayed on top of the gloss, turned the gloss into a gooey consistency and it became all sticky/soft which made the repaint worthless and had to be redone. You may have different experience than me depending on the brand and other factors (such as how many layers of gloss you apply, or how thickly you spray your sealant) but I had faceups being ruined too many times to even risk it again. If I need to add anything to the faceup I mask the glossed parts and put some masking tape on the eyelashes so that I don't coat them with the varnish.
