@drawingwiffwaffles3 жыл бұрын
what a coinky-dink! My recommendation would be to keep the sketchbook nearby. If its there, you might find yourself grabbing for it whenever you're not doing anything. If you have to get up to find it, you probably won't use it. :)
@nightshade89283 жыл бұрын
even though the question isn’t directed at me i just wanted to add a little tidbit that helped me a lot, if your sketchbook is sorta intimidating sometimes, it helped for me to just start drawing on some spare paper so that i didn’t feel the weight of “this is going to be in this book forever”, and if i liked it, i could reference it later or glue it in the book .v. it also helps to just get you into the feel of drawing so that you can create some more

Some sketchbook tips from someone how goes though a sketchbook a Month: 1. Get into the habit of drawing everyday (you don't have to get used to this right away, but slowly work towards it, if you want I can explain how I did this in more detail) 2. Buy an art supplies you really enjoy, and only let yourself use it in you sketchbook 3. Make OCs, designing OCs is a great way to fill up a sketchbook 4. Buy/find decorative paper and draw on it, and stick it in you sketchbook, I do this all the time with things like paper bag (this can also help you with your color theory and with being more cohesive) 5. Study color theory, you can fill alot of pages figuring things out. 6. Draw over unusual textures (I personally love drawing over paint) 7. Study new things (human anatomy, animal anatomy, plants) 8. Writing storys (coming up with places, people, clothing and world building can lead to you drawing things like scenes) 9. Buy small sketchbooks. (If you don't have alot of pages in a sketchbook it can give you more motivation to finish the next one) 10. Make welcoming pages (I full my welcome page with quotes) you can do this by adding a solid painted background, a finished illustration, etc. 11. Trying new art supplies (figuring out how they work can prompt you to draw for longer) 12. Working on you art style/devolving your art style. (You draw for longer trying to figure.out particular things about it) 13. Try art trends (fills more pages and can help you find a new art supplies to use in your sketchbook) 14. Study light Theory. 15. Draw whenever watching a certain KZbinr/podcaster. (If you make a point at first, over time you brain gets used to it and you start doing it subconsciously) I have more if you'd like :)

I taught myself to paint with acrylics about 5 years ago. I love painting so much, but recently I have been struggling finding motivation to create and also the confidence to try. I have felt like I suck and don't know what i'm doing because I always have to paint over parts, and restart and that I seemingly can't blend colors and just my mind says "YOU SUCK STOP PAINTING". Your video and commentary has shown me that it is completely normal to redo things and start over and try multiple times. And if a wonderful artist like you does that, then I am not a weirdo and I don't "suck". Thank you.

I recommend a stay-wet palette or a spray bottle if your really attached to your glass plate to keep your paint wet and ready to use. You might consider giving your painting a finish coat with a gloss or satin medium. This will punch up the berries and may have a settling effect to the background. Just an option to think about. Now go enjoy your week-end!

I like that you are practicing something you want to get better at. I have 3 tips that helped me a lot when I was learning to paint. Paint the background first. This way, you avoid dancing around all the details of the subject and your subject and background are cohesive. In this painting, you could have done the teal on the entire canvas after toning the canvas, or after the first sketch, around the parts of the subject you blocked in. Next, you don't need to paint every single detail. You learned this when you were highlighting the raspberry, so woohoo! Our eyes and mind will fill in the rest when we just have a few hints at the details. And last, you are not so concerned with the object you are painting, but the values you are painting. Start with the darkest areas and paint those in, then go to the mid tones, then highlights. You did a good job at working from general to specific and getting the painting all covered at the same pace. But I think focusing on just the values in relation to one another instead of the actual subject matter would have saved you some time on redoing the waffle. I hope this comment didn't come off obnoxious and like unwanted criticism. These are just things I wish somebody had told me a lot sooner in my painting journey. Love the video, keep doing more.

This looks amazing Rin! I am here for all your videos .. and specially these (acrylic painting) because my daughter is also trying to learn to paint with acrylic paint. Thank you so much! Much success!

4:03 is it just me or does the brown background feel cozy? idk its like a nice brown and hot chocolate is brown and it just makes me feel real cozy like im just getting real comfy and sipping hot chocolate in my cabin in the woods and its snowing and im drawing with her and im just blabbering on trying to explain why this makes me feel cozy. *pFFfT-*

Acrylic painting is my main form of artistic expression so it was so cool to see your process throughout this. I've been focusing on portraits lately and you've definitely inspired me to switch up my subject matter--despite the frustrations of trying to get the waffle color right, this looked like a lot of fun!
