This is such great advice. Takes all the pressure off feeling I have to make an instant masterpiece every time I pick up a brush.

Great message as always. Though I have to say, I wasn't sure who's hand was up who's back, yours or Uncle Albert's. 🤔

Thank you for sharing your fine and skilled painting process I liked your painting very much in an earlier place than the one you chose to stop - it looked as a lovely spot between a very loose style with a great feeling of light dancing in a Landscape and an “abstract” Landscape - and with a very fresh feeling of movement and mystery so for me it was better before adding the details 🙃 And by the way a lovely intro 😃🧡

I love watching your videos. They always give me some insight and hope that I will get better at painting. I definitely have not been able to break the 45 minute mark for any painting. I think mixing colors/values is the most consuming part for me.
@SteveAtkinsonFineArt3 жыл бұрын
Good to hear from you Travis! Getting faster is always the most challenging thing when you start. One thing you can do is to premix all your colors and values. It's slower to start, but dang, you can fly through a painting once your brush hits the canvas. I'll put that technique on my future video list. Thanks for watching! S.

That was awesome. I really appreciate the time you put into that video. Excellent narration. Professional delivery. I have been oil painting for a very short time. All this information was gold. I have a question. During this exercise, do you pre mix your colors or mix on the fly? Keep making oil painting videos. Thanks
@SteveAtkinsonFineArt2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dan, much appreciated. To answer your question, I've tried premixing my colors but I'm too impatient for that, so everything is mixed as I need it. I just try to mix enough of a general color that I can add other colors to it to bend them warmer or cooler as needed. But it's not as complicated as I just made it sound...

@SteveAtkinsonFineArt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas, are you referring to how I stick the panel to my board? If so, I use Museum Putty, aka Blue Tac. I take a small amount, about the size of a small marble, and press one onto each corner of the panel, then press those corners against the board. It sticks till you take it down.
