few years late im late but ill break it down. the old woman isnt related to toshio, the mother or the father. she was a new resident, she wasnt a ghost but a terrified woman. after seeing the spirits over and over she was actually so frightened that she could barely move (as explained and told in the grudge films). when you are so terrified to your core you cant move, cant remember the term. Rika did die at the end as most as anyone that encounters an onryo.

I actually had a funny dream about her and the girl from Ring. I was in the woods and I walked up to this castle. I then heard a sound, turned around and saw one of the 2 charging after me. I overpowered it, went through it like a computer game and meet up with the other one near a lake. Again I beat it and soon enough the whole thing started all over again. During the 3rd time, me and one of the girls realized that if this dream is like a game we need to find its secrets. We agreed and went through it until the next reset. That time we worked together and found all the secrets and finished the mystery. Then reset number 5 or 6 came along. This time me, Ring, and Grudge were looking at each other and the first thing we said in unison, 'Oh hell no!'. We ditched the dream and had a picnic somewhere. After that, the dream ended and I finally got some sleep and woke up without a headache like all the other times the 2 showed up. Since then whenever the 2 showed up in my dreams they're no longer nightmares.
