You need to be getting the draxxin in them when they get there from the sale. Dont wait, if you do you will be behind from the start. Typically we hit them up front with draxxin and then at about day five they will break and then we hit them with baytril and zuprevo. Gave alot of resflor gold this year with not much result. You also need to be hitting them with flunix or Dexmethasone when you give them a shot, helps them alot. We give alot of calves that shouldn't make it draxxin through a dart gun that are already foaming at the mouth and they pull through just fine, so I wouldn't be afraid ever to give a calf draxxin that looks bad. Also you need to be switching between draxxin, zuprevo, and zactran or you will run into a time when whatever drug doesn't work and your just pissing your money away at that point.

Give Banamine or Dex along with whatever you're treating with. It will help with inflammation and bring down a fever.

How do you think the brahmas would do in the colder weather in Oklahoma. Aren’t they more of a warm weather cow?

Those ear cattle are tough for sure; shouldn’t have any issues in OK.

I used draxxin on a calf and it was amazing...VERY overpriced! Their patent expires this year and the FDA approved two generics for use called Increxxa and Macrosyn. I have not found them marketed yet.
