Draymond continues to be enabled by the league and his close friends. There’s tough players that played in the 1980’s and 1990’s but this is something entirely different. This isn’t some tough technical foul while someone drives to the basket. This is straight up assault and he’s done it to so many people if he was out on the streets he would most certainly be in jail. But because he’s rich and he can have an impact in the NBA he gets a pass and that will backfire on him soon if he doesn’t too to make at least SOME kind of effort. So what happens? Poole, because he's a moron, starts running his mouth at Dray. If Dray doesn't shut it down, the rest of the team will think him weak, he'll lose his power & respect. With the loss of power and respect, no one will listen to him - and most of Dray's "value" comes from his influence as the team's voice and engine - not his skill with a basketball. Dray cannot shut Poole's mouth by destroying him by outscoring him in practice, etc... so the only option he has left is to deck him and frame it as a reaction to Poole disrespecting him (which he probably was). Ironically, it was Poole's ego that initiated all of this - not Drraymond's. Had Poole just kept his mouth shut around Dray and not played hero ball / play ego ball, he'd still be in GS. Instead, he got punched / humiliated, and shipped to Washington. Dray got a new contract and is still in GS. Dray won the war.
