This is Oakland Cemetary which has 48 acres. Westview Cemetery, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is the largest civilian cemetery in the Southeastern United States, comprising more than 582 acres, 50 percent of which is undeveloped. Westview includes the graves of more than 125,000 people.

I thought the first time I saw Kenny’s monument, there were no dates on it. Was back today for the Day of the Dead festival. Made it a point to check it again. No dates at all.

The visitors center you saw was temporary. New one was being built and is now complete.

We used to hang out there when we were teens.(late 1980s / early 90s) I remember one night I found an iron coal fireplace cover there. I have no idea why it was there. It was just sitting against a tree. I gave it to my now 90 yo grandmother and she keeps it in a corner in her kitchen.

Oakland Cemetery is my favorite Park in Atlanta - it's full of interesting architecture, history and a beautiful horticultural wonder. They hold fabulous events all year long - Tunes from the Tombs/Sunday in the Park, weekly tours, special tours, Run Like Hell (a 5k). My favorite is Capturing the Spirit, held at night for about 1-1/2 weeks in October with the Residents, dressed in time appropriate garb, standing at their resting places telling their stories !!! And lets not forget the plant sales held throughout the year. It's an absolute treasure ❤
