It seems that some designs are just made to be assembled, and sold!? It looks like a nightmare to try to fix, no matter how competent we are, machines like this do test our patience!

I have had a SONY TC-755A for years. It is a wonder. It works perfectly and both the recording and the playback are truly amazing. It is a very good product. Built like a tank. But, I have always had a doubt ... Both in the User Manual and in the Service Manual, they indicate that it should only be used vertically. So I have used it. Up to now. Now I would like to use it horizontally to install it in my new Audio room. PLEASE ... does anyone know if it can be damaged when using it horizontally?

Can you tell the difference between 755 and 755a?

Its annoying some one chucked it in the bin but good job again in saving the unit. Shame it could not be added to your collection.

Daniël's Tech & Music Channel I'm not sure how much I got for this, I think it was something close to 200€. Not bad, especially since I included a detailed description of what was broken...

Hi DrCassette, i have also the Sony TC 755A but i have a problem on play control, when i press play the left side reel is in the opposite direction of turn how do i fix this? thanks..
@DrCassette11 ай бұрын
This is normal behaviour, the supply reel does spin in the opposite direction to provide back tension to the tape.

That is so funny. I always have luck with Sony equipment, in fact Sony is one of my favorite companies. Whenever I find something Sony at the dump, I think "I bet this is going to work - because it is a Sony!". That is funny that you have the complete opposite luck!

good night my friend!! congratulations for the excellent video!! I have one of these machines the model of mine is TC 756A-2 and these days I was cleaning the heads and suddenly it stopped recording the right side. already iverti the poles of the recording head and found that it is good. the play is great, the problem is only in the recording. I live in matogrosso-MT Brazil and I confess that here there are no technicians who handle these devices. I have a slight knowledge of the area until I disassembled it completely for lubrication. can you help me? big hug!!!

Why were you removing that board with the power on????We all make mistakes, but was there a reason to have it on...Im saying this in a nice way....
@DrCassette2 жыл бұрын
The power was off, but some capacitors on the board were still charged from when the machine had been powered on previously. I was not aware of the charged capacitors.

The Sony rep that came to my Hi Fi shop told me the Japanese had problem pronouncing the letter "R" Most of these deck suffered from people dropping them.
@DrCassette5 жыл бұрын
In the Japanese language "R" and "L" are the same sound. So when the Japanese try to speak a western language it takes them a lot of training to correctly differentiate between "R" and "L".

That circuit board with everything combined on it, is just an ugly design!

***** Absolutely. It was VERY hard to even find components marked in the service manual. This was a nightmare to work on, that's why I couldn't repair it in the end.

Hello. Can you give me a drawing or dimensions of the head block cover (upper and lower). The original cover is missing. Therefore, I will print on a 3D printer. Thank you.😊
