Congratulations your videos are great. I'm from Brazil and I'm translating this text using Google Translate, then if have a mistake I apologize.I learn more with you than with the videos that speak in my own language. I would to know if it is possible to simulate through ANSYS a vehicle (with its concentrated loads on wheels ) to cross the structure and find the worst moments of bending the slab of a bridge. You could make a video on this subject, if you have this knowledge? Thank you.

+Rahul Kochar you can use a Modal analysis. In workbench, under analysis systems, drag Modal into the project schematic, and link the cells from the static structural to the modal to share the data, then open modal and find the mode shape and frequencies. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

Hi, Im wondering if it is possible to simulate uniaxial/triaxial cylindrical tests assigning some "rock properties" to the sample in order to obtain the rock mechanical properties like UCS, Friction Angle, Tensile Strenght, etc. It is possible to assign random rock properties to the sample, rocks are heterogeneus, porous, brittle, etc..... Please let me know your comments. Thanks, Marcel.

Thanks +DrDalyO for another fantastic video tutorial. Really appreciate that you showed detail of steps especially in the geometry setup of the model. For beginners like me, the more details the better ! I have a question by the way: usually, for truss bridge, we model the connection of the truss to the base as "pinned" connection. The way you did in the video looks like it would be able to transfer moment. How would you release the rotation about y and z axes (the axes other than longitudinal axis of the truss) ? Many thanks

Hi, I want to ask what are the advantages of using line bodies for beams over the conventional solid bodies? Which will yield a more accurate result? Cheers!
@drdalyo7 жыл бұрын
Line bodies save compute time, which means it solver faster. Sometimes you are not interested in all the details of the body but more the effect it has on the transmission of forces to the other body, so in this case you can use a line body for simplification.

Hello DrDalyO, I'm in design modeler attempting to draw a truss frame. I attempt to generate a new line from sketch and once I do it assumes an existing line body that I had generated before with a given cross section, therefore I cannot assign a different cross section to the newly generated line. This frame has components with varying cross sections. How can I generate independent line bodies with different cross sections?

There are some things unclear to me. Are beams pin joints or welded on each other and surface? Because if it's pin joint then the beams carry only the axial forces. But in the results there are bendings on beams which means they are not pin joints. So in case the bridge structure would be truss structure, then how is the model changed? I've seen mech. apdl software is used widely for truss analysis to model truss elements on the other hand for those who claim they are doing truss analysis are actually doing it wrong I think. Thanks in advance!
@drdalyo8 жыл бұрын
+Fırat Ertürk hi, i should probably change the title for this my mistake. They are welded beams. Il probably make another video thats actual trusses, which yes, only take axial force and no bending.

@drdalyo7 жыл бұрын
Any decent computer can run it, however the time to calculate will vary depending on your element, node count and model. Im running a quad core i5 with 8gb ram, and standard nvidia card. You could run on a dual core also. Ansys is very "core" hungry so the more cores you have the faster it will solve. Theres also something called simu cloud i believe where you can run problems on their servers for a fee, and they have tons of computing power.

Hey DrDalyO, I keep getting an invalid geometry error. Is there a way to diagnose this error(s)?
@drdalyo7 жыл бұрын
Hi, you could check the solver output. It would be under the Solution branch, then Solution Information. In the Details window, look for the first option which is Solution Output and make sure its on Solver Output. There you can scroll down and see some more details about the error. Feel free to post it here. Maybe try redoing the geometry and starting from scratch though, or even try something simpler to start. Hope this helps!
