Dear god, he has described my experiences in teaching. Just kind of wait and see what happens, tired and worn feeling, sometimes puffy (that is a great word for it!) Yup, technique. Maybe there is a slight difference between speaking and singing voice, but they come from the same spot. I just love this---thank you for having him! I am so glad I am watching all these videos because I am learning so much.

Terminology is difficult because it is the “definition” of the word that is critical. If 2 people have a different definition of “squeeze” it is easy to get stuck on whether it is positive or negative. Because so many teachers create a new “vocabulary” of what different techniques are called it makes it very easy to disagree on teaching approaches. If there was a standard vocabulary for techniques and methods, it would be easier as students to study. However many times a student has start over learning new vocabulary when studying with a different teacher.

However if the the teacher knows what to listen for the term will make sense. If the teacher just throws out terms to sound smart you’re in a heap of trouble lol
