Gigi is an amazing artist and she knows it and delivers a cover to her full potential with her unique talent ❤ She really loves singing 🙏 At one point in her younger time , was getting frustrated bec nobody seems to recognized her talent and wanted to quit but her mom continues to encourage and believe in her , Bless her heart Mel , may you rest in Peace 🙏 She was able to convince Gigi for one more time to join a contest and finally she made it Think she won second prize but became a favorite and people able to see she is special and gathered fans and Was given projects all the time Her climb to success was obvious together with GGVIBES and now touring worldwide 👏👏👏👏

Hi Dan, I always ❤ your Giginalysis 😁. I loved the original of this song by the amazing multi-award Grammy winner, Diane Reeves. But i was floored when i heard Gigi's version. She made this her own, & for the 1st time I understood what the song was really about. Such a great storyteller. Also, this is a jazz song but she used some rock vocal fry elements in her vocals on the 2nd half of the song. Who would've thought that would work? Only Gigi & the Vibes. I like them bc they take risks & think outside the box. Kudos to the boys too, such amazing musicians. Next pls analyze OFFICIALLY MISSING YOU.

I just read Kats reaction, she is right on point as well this is probably my favorite performance all the way around with Gigi and the band of course. She owned this song! You rarely see a cover that sounds as authentic as the original. I see a lot of Philippine talents who do covers but you feel the cover aspect of their renditions. But here, Gigi just owned it. The few people I've seen do this so far are Regine, Gigi and KZ.

I agree. In Love The Way You Lie, u can see that. She has the face of an actress, the expressions on her face, such a natural. And Im talking about not just the parts where she's rapping, but the parts where she's actually not doing anything, just listening to Oyus sing or the band play. She gets into character in every song she does.

Correction Gigi is first and foremost a singer by profession joining local singing contest since she was 9 yrs old, transitioning as a wedding singer w/her band the acting came later after making a name in the music industry breaking out via the talent show Tawag ng Tanghalan.

@@egg8928 oh I think there's just a slight misunderstanding here. When I say actress, I don't mean Actress as a profession. I meant it more like an actress in the sense of her amazing ability to tell a story, & to morph into different characters, depending on the song. Thats why she can sing different genres from the 50s, 60s,70s,80, 90s to the current music. She can go almost looking possessed in Unholy, to singing Oceans, a Christian song. In House of the Rising Sun, you almost feel transported in time to the 1800s. Its as if she's singing in a lounge of a cigar-filled brothel in New Orleans. That's probably not even her intention, but me knowing what the original song is about, it brought me there. She is able to make u visualize these songs. With Better Days for example, Diane Reeves sang this in such an amazing way right? She's a very respected jazz artist. But Gigi not only sang it but "acted" this song. As in i could visualize grandma in a rocking chair, and later grandma spreading her wings & flying. So yes of course she's an amazing vocalist, but what makes it even compelling is bc she's also a great "actress". Oh yes I know she was in a romantic comedy mini-series & played a supporting role in a movie, so yeah I know she's also an Actress, in the real sesnse.

Hello Dr Dan! Are you able to react to Stell from the boyband SB19 rendition of "All by myself" with David Foster? He sang this with David Foster along with 3 other songs "All I ask, "Defying Gravity' and his own solo song "ROOM". He is from the Philippines and he sang All by myself when asked by David Foster 1-2 hour before the concert when he heard him doing sound check on the 3 songs that he sang as a opening act. Stell is a counter tenor. Much appreciated.
