“Microscopic mosquitoes that seem to come from the depths of Hades.” Yes! And they are silent! I tried some mosquito bite patches on some early season bites and was pleasantly surprised! They are clear, in various sizes and took the itch, bruise and swelling away; a game changer. When the patch fell off, no hyperpigmentation! I too am allergic and a bite, unscratched, swells to elbow or knee size normally, turns brilliant red, then deep red and shows the bruise which lasts a week or more beneath, then leaves the hyperpigmentation. The patch I used was from Quitch.

I am 71 and live in the high desert of southwestern Utah. I previously lived in Colorado for 45 years. What I'm getting at is that I have pretty dry skin as a result of aging and location. Thank you for suggesting the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Body Gel Cream. I used it before using Bondi Sands or La Roche Posay Sunscreen, and my skin feels moisturized and protected all day long. It continues to feel moisturized after sleeping. *sigh* of relief!

In the winter (bitter cold and dry here), I use CeraVe Cream in the jar. For summer, I thought I would try CeraVe Daily Moisturing Lotion and I actually do not care for it. It feels runny (probably because I'm used to the cream), but it also doesn't feel very hydrating on my skin. I'm going to try one of the above described in the video. Side note: Years ago, before I was watching KZbin, I went to Walgreens in search of a really good hydrating lotion. A lady working there told me that many of their customers come in looking for Vanicream lotion, because they had just come from their Dermatologist and this product was recommended to them. Thanks for the video, Dr. Dray. Hope everyone is having a great day.

Hi Dr Dray I need body butter and the richest of creams most of the year due to eczema and menopause 😂, but Summer I can use lotion textured products. They still have to be really moisturising eg Neutrogena Norwegian formula fragrance free, but not as heavy as a balm or butter. I also layer with a spray moisturiser underneath for extra hydration without heaviness eg Aveeno spray moisturiser. Best wishes x Ps we don’t have mosquitoes here in Scotland, but we do have their cousin the infamous Scottish midge. They are tiny and ferocious 😂. Steroid cream is the only thing I have found to “treat” the bites. I’m allergic to them so I always have to be on antihistamines and those can also help with the after effects of the bites. X

Suggestion. Cover up with linen. If you must go out. DEET. Never after fresh shaved legs. Wash off when coming indoors, reapply DEET if you must go out again. At night cool shower with oatmeal cleanser, then soak in tub with oatmeal (AVENO) air or pat dry. Then yes run hairdryer over skin that has been bit.careful not to burn. Low and about 2 inches away in circular motions.this moves the poison from the sting. Itch should be gone. Cool off well then apply some of your cream. These bugs may have pathogens more dangerous than just dry skin. Yes deet take it from military family. Just idea that worked for us. Not a doc but it works .
@ScoobyDoosMom5 ай бұрын
Thank you for those tips! I’m not pro or against DEET and know it’s great for keeping the nasty repelling those nasty 🦟 but I find it interesting how research showed that in studies on rats, frequent and prolonged DEET exposure led to diffuse brain cell death and behavioral changes, yet the EPA's 2014 review of DEET found no risks of concern to people or the environment. Hmm…🤔Not sure why US is still testing on animals if we’re not going to take the information we learn and apply it humans. DEET is toxic if ingested so keep product away from kiddos and animals.

Have you tried permethrin-treated clothes? I've pretty much bought a summer wardrobe from Insect Shield's website because I live in a high tick area. Besides clothes they sell sun hats and lovely super lightweight gauze shawl/scarves that are excellent if you're at an outside event or just sitting on the patio. You may still need to use bug spray on your exposed skin but sometimes I just wrap my hands in the ends of the shawl. At outdoor concerts my friend has wrapped the scarf around her head & face & been pest free
