Our cover verion of the Smith's classic. It was used in John Hughes film, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Was not on any of our three albums but was released as a single in 7 and 12 inch formats.

The Emulator II synth shown in this video was, at the time, a $7,995 USD synth. Anyone else notice it's also the synth in Ferris Bueller's room? No way a suburban kid from Chicago has an $8,000 synth in his bedroom. No way.

Always fun to hear different artists interpret a song, and this one's a beauty. Nick's vocal understates the lyric well, and seeing the lovely Kate St. John is worth the price of admission.

Yes - the studio set decorators knew that so they had it written into the script that Ferris would use this for a fake cough but it wouldn't have that capacity to do so at the time. I played one two, or three years after the movie was made that cost $35,00.00 then which would be about $95,00.00 in todays money and it didn't do that either - this was a trick on people watching as it was recorded and then parts of someone coughing slowed down and other parts sped up and played back to simulate what they thought it would sound like through and actual synthesizer. And to my knowledge none of them do that to this day as there is no want, or desire for it in music! You can put a mic on a synth and run through it but that's about as close as you're going to get to an actual cough!

The Dream Academy was a huge favorite of mine at the time, and still is. Don't quite understand how it wasn't a greater favorite for more people.

The instrumentals swirling all around the voice.. the whole production of the song is so lush and whimsical, which is very typical of their best songs, but especially so for this one ...I become a child everytime I listen to their songs ....
