Very nostalgic build for me. This was the era I really got into PC hardware. It was such a distinct time for the obsession around UV lighting and flashy indicators on the front panel. Great selection of hardware as well, very popular for 2003. Only thing missing is an Audigy 2! For a ThermalTake case of the time, this one isn't bad (most were crazy looking). The new plexi definitely helps. Cable management in cases back then was....not fun.
@RETROHardware6 жыл бұрын
Yep it was time when I need all that HW but haven't money. Now with money is +/- same ... difference is that I have HW :-) Audigy 2 ZS was in but not working good, still some driver problems. Anyway I got lot of problems to get running WIN XP correct (5x reinstall). This chipset need lot of work and set around than intel.

I was poor and had budget hardware, so I had my Athlon 1800+ overclocked as far as I could take it, and that was paired with an overclocked 9700 Pro, the one with the iconic tiny hilarious joke of a cooler - all kept cold by a box fan and nearby A/C unit. My friend had the same 9700 Pro and he only had case fans and central heat and air - his card literally cooked itself to death. By the time 1800+/9700 Pro wasn't enough anymore I was on to an AMD 64 3200+/X800 Pro hand me down system from a tech school friend. These days I am a little more refined and use a high quality genuine GE fan from the 1950s, the metal blades move an INCREDIBLE amount of air for such a small space, cooling literally every component in my PC as well as myself - and it takes up little desk room.
