Nice bike, not too flashy just solid parts. Most "dream builds" have tacky matching component colours and or oil slick chains haha.

other than the obvious supply issues can you share why you chose the 29er over the mixed wheels? I'm trying to decide which one to get.
@BlueSkyBoys2 жыл бұрын
Very good question mate, I chose the the full 29er for a couple reasons, other than the fact it was in stock, I was quite used to the big wheel coming from the Kona Process X and I also wanted this bike to be as fast as possible for enduro racing. The slightly better roll-over of the bigger wheel at the back is faster especially in a straight line. However I really like the idea of the Meta SX, I think it would be very playfull and really good in the corners. I think these Meta's are incredible and maybe in the future if I do less racing the SX would be a serious contender for my next bike! The champaign colour especially!

@@BlueSkyBoys chur bro, that champagne colour is fire right!

Do you think it would make a big difference if I put a fox 36 160mm? Planning to get this frame and already have that fork on my current bike.

Was this a 65mm stroke shock as opposed to the 62.5mm that the frame is spec'd with? If so, did you run into any clearance issues? Beautiful bike!
@BlueSkyBoys2 жыл бұрын
Nope this shock was 62.5mm as well. Definitely wouldn't recommend using any other stroke other than the spec'd 62.5mm. Theres no seat stay brace on this model which would help with clearance issues however an extra 2.5mm of stroke would result in over 5mm extra wheel travel. At that point in the travel the compression and rebound would both be pretty harsh and dull feeling because the leverage curve isn't designed to go that far. Thanks for the comment hope that makes sense!

Lovely build. Got to ask about the sizing after reading up on the meta’s. I’m 5.11” normally riding a large but not sure it a medium suit me better. Can just ask what you went for? Cheers
@alistairdewaard97682 жыл бұрын
im 5.7 and have a medium my mate has a large and hes 5.9 its perfect for him and he has room to grow I would go with large if I was you.

Is it cheaper to build it yourself or buy one prebuilt? I'd love to build mine from the frame up, but idk if it's worth it in terms of cost
@BlueSkyBoys2 жыл бұрын
To be honest it's probably not cheaper. James works at a bike shop so has access to staff pricing which made this possible. It's really hard to beat the prices of complete bikes but boy is it fun to build them!
@whatthebeepgaming5072 жыл бұрын
I built up a clash not to long ago, worked out about 800 bucks cheaper, transferred my pedals bars seat and stem over. But since commencal jacked up the prices i doubt it will be the same outcome

Sick bike!! Can I ask how tall you are to go with the M? I'm just under 6 foot and I'm tossing up between getting an M or L
@BlueSkyBoys2 жыл бұрын
Hey man. Sorry for the slow reply. James is roughly 5ft 11 and went for the medium. When you are between sizes my logic is the smaller size will be a little more fun to throw around. But the bigger size will probably be more stable and therefore faster if you are racing. Not always true but something to consider 🤟
@bb65202 жыл бұрын
Just ordered myself an M Meta AM! The numbers were very similar to my current bike (a little longer) and I decided I wouldn't want anything bigger than what I already have!

I'm looking to build one too, but howcome you went the SLX brakes over the XT? Same with the derailleur, is the upgrade worth the cost?
@BlueSkyBoys2 жыл бұрын
James bought a complete Commencal and then stripped it down to build his dream build. It came specced with SLX brakes and he decided it wasn’t worth the money to upgrade at the moment. He probably will go XT in the future. Same story with the derailleur 🤟
