Sands of time doors is intentional design. But I think it should be reworked. All the other traps in the game take a bit of fighting off mobs or tight jumps. This one was just dependent on a teammate finding you.

That's essentially the purpose of that trap, lol. They add one hard trap out of the the easy traps to add more difficulty and it just so happened to be that Dream was the one that fell for it, if it was a different person I guarantee people wouldn't even complain. The trap isn't even an unfair one, a teammate can easily get you out and it was just very unlucky that Sylvee couldn't find Dream and there was no time. The trap was completely fair and Dream absolutely fell for it.

Iron doors can only be opened with redstone signals. This is such a basic mechanics that overlooking the pressure plate is just a dumb mistake on himself. Dream should immediately realise that he can just leave or needs a teammate to do it once he noticed there's no pressure plate on the other side. 0 IQ move
