I don’t think either were to blame for what they said then. While Tommy said “You ARE Techno and so are we” in response, they haven’t really treated him like a person have they? Words and promises are nothing when actions don’t back them up, I don’t think Tommy understood this and misconstrued it as him betraying the group. From Tommy’s perspective every time he was THIS close to getting back to normal it was ripped apart by Techno’s ideals and Dream’s insanity. Tommy has every right to distrust and choose his friends over the man who destroyed his friends nation twice. Overall great character writing.

I see them as continuations of Wilbur's story -- they both believe they're fighting for Wilbur's legacy but they have VERY different interpretations of what that means. Tommy chose to forgive Tubbo and rejoin L'Manberg because all he really wanted was to go back home, and he realizes Dream is the enemy, not Tubbo. I think he sees Techno as a bitter, selfish person who belongs nowhere because that's what Tommy's afraid of becoming himself. Techno isn't that at all, imo, but his worldview is so fundamentally different from Tommy's they just can't get each other

There was an unelected leader in Tubbo. He didn't really lead but he was looked to for leadership, even if he was just ordered around by others. What Techno lacks is self control and perspective. He blinded zealot for an ideal that he follows obsessively. Even to the expense of himself, just to reach a goal. Techno follows an ideal to the destruction of everything around him. Tommy has an ideal but can't put the work or the will into seeing it through. Neither of them are right, in fact no one is. That is the beauty.

@@Ontarianmm Techno’s goal isn’t to cause chaos, his goal is freedom, not just for himself but for all being used and abused by government. Techno truly desires a peaceful life but each time someone comes along to drag him out. 1st it was Wilbur, bringing him into his war against the tyrant Schlatt. Techno witnessed the evils of what a tyrant had done to his friend and helped him, only to soon be betrayed as he realized he was only used as the man he once called friend seized power and handed it to another. He reacted the only way he knew how, violence and bloodshed. After he made his escape he fled to retirement. He swore a life of peace but was once again dragged out of it when the butcher army, a hand of the government, came to execute him, not for his crimes but as a show of power. Then there was Tommy, desperate and alone, Techno gave him his hand and swore to help him. The two grew a friendship, one that was thrown away as Tommy walked back to the “friend” that exiled him. Techno was used once again. He had come to defend Tommy when all were against him. He was willing to take on half a server for Tommy when there was a gun to his head, though previously no one had done so for him. And so, he responded to the betrayal the only way he knew how. He tore the world away from the ones who wronged him. His goal is not chaos, but chaos is the only way he knows to achieve his goals. He knows first hand of how tyrants running governments are, and he does not wish that on anyone. To solve that he’s put it upon himself to stand against them. There’s a good song that sums up his story much better than I ever could, “Woe To The People Of Order”. It’s good and there’s 2 versions. The 6 minute one includes verses from doomsday but it’s good to listen to both for anyone wanting to better understand Techno’s story in the DSMP

@@deimos5365 Exactly. Techno and Tommy both have their own POVs. In Tommy's Point of view, Techno had given him shelter but he was starting to become like Techno. He was getting more hostile and violent, he was disregarding others' feelings, HECK he even SPAWNED A WITHER with Techno. He didn't want to be like that. Not cuz he hated Techno or because he was becoming like Techno, but because he was becoming EVERYTHİNG he didn't want to be. That violent and controlling act was also reminiscent of Dream, Schlatt and Wilbur. He didn't hate Techno, he actually considered him his friend but it wasn't Anarchy and the destruction of his Nation he wanted. He just wanted his home and friends back, so he took his chance to get them back when he could. In Techno's Point of View, he had given Tommy shelter and Protection. He became friends with him and spent time with him to help him heal. But when he pıut his own safety of the line for Tommy, Tommy's realization that he was becoming everything he didn't want to be and siding with Tubbo, in Techno's eyes threw away everything he had done for Tommy. He lashed out because he thought Tommy was just using him while in Truth Tommy DID think of him as his friend. When Dream told everyone that he was going to destroy L'manberg and asked Techno for withers Techno was all for it. "Treat others as they treat you" he's obsessed with his ideals of Anarchy cuz in a way, Government, hierarchy took his friends away. First was Wilbur then Tommy.

"The unfinished symphony right" he's saying that he's there to make sure that L'manburg is forever unfinished and is never re-built but once again manipulating tommy into thinking that a new begining can come from the destuction of it. The next words out of Tommy's mouth were "The disks". Techno supplied Pogtopia through tireless work in order to destroy the government out of a philosophical opposition to governments. He made that clear. Pogtopia seizing power for themselves made him complicit in the creation of a new, unelected government. He could not allow that. Even then he discarded his violent ways and went into exile. But then, the Butcher Army came. They imprisoned his friend, then sentenced him to death without trial. Tubbo proved to Techno that he was a tyrant. A marginally just government, if you accept such a thing could exist, would allow a fair trial. Beyond that, the government proved that Techno couldn't live peacefully as long as the government existed.

The whole part about techno being against tubbo is so sad, techno never hated tubbo and never wanted to kill him in the red festival. Techno was the sword of pogtopia and tubbo was the only other person who was as invested in the revolution as techno blade. Tubbo wasn’t even expecting to become the president and the truth is that he was weak as a president but strong as a fighter. Tubbo’s weak presidency over lmanberg lead to techno being hunted down and if techno hadn’t been hunted down, lmanberg wouldn’t have been destroyed. Cause dream can’t do that alone by himself.

Do you ever get this feeling of how far these characters have come. Like the fact that what happened this whole year ago, when we thought that this was the biggest war, but it turns out that all that happened was just leading to the times when we see that it was only the beginning of something much more complicated and important. And what happened there and then is past, it's history. And even though it's still important, because you can't erase history even if you don't agree with it, it wasn't as big as we once thought it was. At the time, of course, but the results are way beyond our expectations and that's why I love this community. Peace.
