I am happy to find this site when I was searching for the details of the book on Shinkansen by Prof. Abel. My husband, Yoshiharu Takamatsu, worked for all the Shinkansen projects and wrote books on it and Japanese railways.

This is one of the many sessions which makes JFIT a national (global) treasure. Great session. Some political systems , like Japan, can somehow navigate the problems of weighing the trade off between winners and losers and make major decisions, like high speed rail. And… at the same time preserve democracy.

Bait and switch is a proud tradition of Kyoto. Same with tourism, asked for more tourism then complain there is too much tourism. Trust Japan at your own peril
