Dream stutters a lot and honestly its kind of endearing cus we’ve never seen this side to him
@MB-lo7vb
@MB-lo7vb 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed :) and the stuttering is most likely due to adhd because we will a lot of the time be having so many thoughts going on that we sometimes need a pause to sort them out. For people with adhd it’s harder to construct sentences so we will sometimes use a crutch word/phrase or move onto a different subject when we get distracted. Sorry for the mental health lesson but I thought you might like to know :))
@silk.and.cologne

@@MB-lo7vb very true. i have ADHD, ADD, social anxiety and Glossophobia (phobia of public speaking) so i stutter and change subjects SO MUCH, which makes it really hard for me to socialise with others. i have large detachment issues as well, so when i’m separated from my best friend who i’ve known for about 7 years that means when i talk to other people i’m worrying about her whilst worrying about making a good impression on whoever i’m talking to, which causes me to stutter and just stop what i’m saying for long periods of time.
@MB-lo7vb
@MB-lo7vb 3 жыл бұрын
@Charmy Creations ADHD is not all hyper which most media portrayals of adhd make it seem, there’s many different aspects of it like- rapid mood swings, getting hyper for a short period of time then come crashing down(like a sugar high with no sugar), having a lot of trouble focusing on things that don’t interest you, or the opposite to that(hyper fixation) when you focus so much on one specific thing that you could forget to do basic hygiene and other stuff, fidgeting all the time(could also help you focus and be the reason for the figet), Sensory issues, and impulsiveness- so I cant diagnose you because I’m not a professional (only a few years older than you lol) and these can also be other mental health related things, but if a lot of these symptoms apply to you then I’d recommend talking to a psychologist or doctor

Adhd is generally associated with an inability to focus, but for myself I’ve found that I’m extremely good at focusing on something I enjoy for hours at a time. Think of techno farming for 10 hours a day, or the amount of time Dream puts into his KZbin. I’m sure ADHD is they’re “super power” there. @@jaymm1364 I promise you. ADHD is not a support as you put it. You can NEVER sit still. No matter where you are you have to be fidgeting. Case to case it’s different. Not everyone experiences the same symptoms, and not everyone experiences all the symptoms. For me it feels more like spacing out than “catching every detail.” There are some benefits to a mind that works like that. But they are usually very niche and in the grand scheme: it is a burden.

Not all adhd is about distractibility if that's all it was, you wouldn't be diagnosed with ADHD. It's more than that. It's severe deficiency in executive functioning and possibly memory, slight problem in social interaction (not enough to be autism but still slight) and a bunch of other things.

I was wondering how you managed to get diagnosed at 19, because I’m 19 rn and I’ve been struggling with multiple symptoms of ADHD for as long as I can remember and they’re getting worse currently. From what I’ve seen, doctors are really reluctant to diagnose it in adults (at least it seems like it in the uk) without some kind of proof you had symptoms when you were a kid, but the thing is my symptoms when I was younger weren’t as obvious so I kind of went under the radar. I used to doodle constantly on the side of my book in school too lol, that’s why your comment caught my eye, as well as you being diagnosed into adulthood. I don’t have adhd but I feel the same xD my notes are always un organized and have doodles and pen scratches all over them. Plus I never pay attention to one thing and learning new things is the hardest thing especially if it’s not a hands on activity. I also wouldn’t say I fidget but I do pull on my fingers and shake my hands (like jazz hands lol) a lot of the time when they aren’t doing something.

Idk if it's something related to ADHD, but it's so relatable how he described his school life. Like you're very smart and a quick learner but sucking at actually participating in school. I was a nightmare to grade for my teachers since the little schoolwork I actually did was really good but I barely did enough to even complete the class. It's very comforting to know someone like Dream who's really successful and are able to live just doing things he enjoys had the same struggles, it gives me some hope for my future.

Honestly I find it inspiring how higher creators talk about their Mental Health; so it makes it more visible. I have had ADHD when I was 11; I am now 13. I realized that it makes me so grateful that Dream takes a moment just to talk about his experience. I've had a really hard time with ADHD, and nobody used to see it as something important; So now that a higher creator is acknowledging it, it makes me feel appreciated. I've had a lot more people acknowledge my own health and know my well-being. ADHD has always been hard for me to over come, and having a creator who isn't afraid to share makes me feel accepted in this world. I've always been inspired by how Dream talks about his childhood, it's so honest and that's all we really need from a creator/person. Honesty. The reason why I watch the SMP; and the creators is because of their respect and their honesty. They make me laugh everyday, and just seeing them living their best life makes me happy. I don't need anything else but the people who have got me through it to be happy. The SMP brings me many joys and happiness. As I said, having a diagnosis is hard to get through alone but when you have creators there just making content that makes you wanna live is amazing. I love anime as well, it has done a lot for me, and still does. However now the SMP is real people so it feels different, but it feels good to have people there. I really enjoyed this, and how Dream's childhood was. Remember to anyone reading this, you're valid and loved, and I am just a stranger on the internet I get that but even if you ever want to rant on my comment, you can always reply. Thank you.

First rule: NEVER compare your life with another's, you aren't less good because someone did X and you not. Everyone have their own timing in life, and differents backgrounds. Take one step at time, I'm sure you can do some cool things coding! One day you'll look back and see better what you achieved. Trust me! I code since 2011, and do it professionally since 2016, I know how easy is to underestimate yourself.

I had the option of actually doing online or regular high school for my victory lap (formerly OAC/5th year). I am so happy I did actual school because the amount of information I learnt from some classes and clubs is still currently helping me. I helped with our close circuit video announcements and ran my own radio show during lunch hour. The reason why I say this totally changed everything is because I told this story and got into NYU Tisch School of the Arts (granted it's later in life, at 34, but I love it so much.). It's only a short certification and I am a scholarship student but it sometimes totally sinks in that I'm actually doing alright in it and it's kind of a big deal. I tried to go to a tech high school but there was a waitlist and my mom refused to drive me to school....So I had to pick a school with a bus or go to my original high school that backed onto corn field. I wonder sometimes whether I would've been a STEM girl if I went that angle vs into social sciences then going into Film editing/maybe Cinematography.

i’m so behind rn too. my school is going back in forth between online and actually going to school because of covid. i just don’t have the motivation to do any work and my grades are done for it. i don’t think there’s any way for me to get straight A’s, because i’m usually a straight A student. i just go on my phone during class and then sleep after school’s done. i hope one day i’ll get out of school and not have to stress about grades.

That’s most likely due to adhd because we will a lot of the time be having so many thoughts going on that we sometimes need a pause to sort them out. For people with adhd it’s harder to construct sentences so we will sometimes use a crutch word/phrase or move onto a different subject when we get distracted so that’s why so many “like”’s :))

i have adhd and i literally have been doing the same shit of like, fidgeting, making up little stories and video game concepts, drawing them out instead of paying attention to class, forgetting some at times since i was *7*. nowadays i feel more and more afraid of becoming an adult because im failing all my classes and im holding onto my ability to create like its a goddamn near-hopeless lifeline, even though i know its not gonna save me from life as an adult. but seeing dream up there, having created a goddamn behemoth of a story and a community, i cant help but feel some sort of hope for my future, like one day, ill get something to click and if i dont, i think ill still be able to manage life when im older. its just... god. i dont know. its so weird, seeing someone who was just like me at my age. it can be relieving or frightening, depending on the situation. i guess im just used to the more frightening side of the coin, because the amounts of relief and hope this gives me is so confusing, and hard to internalize, but... im thankful for it.
