This was such an amazing time in Petrucci's career from a playing standpoint. This album has some of the most brutal solos he's ever written on them and not only does he nail them, but he plays them even faster than the album tempo. Go watch This Dying Soul and Stream of Consciousness from this tour too. So amazing.

Yeah I swear this feels faster than the album by a slither. He’s churning out 14 notes per second in this solo. Basically 6 notes per beat at 140 bpm.

5 years later... I was listening to the studio version just now and needed to jump over here to watch JP play this solo. Mike definitely gets in front of the groove and takes it a beat or two faster than the studio version and Petrucci still crushes every single note. He makes it look easy too. Insane. What I love about this solo is not only is it brutal and aggressive but you can still somehow sing it. It has a really cool melody under all of those notes. That's a skill JP has that just always separates him from every other shredder out there for me.

Do you know why there is no tribute bands that could play at this level?????? With out question,, the musicianship in this band is way above your pay-grade.
