FLAWELESS!! I have been watching your videos since you were recording them with a potato. I love your Portnoy Covers, because you stay true to the song, you play it as it was intended. Some other covers I see people wanting to showcase they can do more with the song and add their "takes" and just end up ruining for me. You play it note for note, its amazing how accurate you are with all the extra stuff MP does and you are able to replicate so accurately. I would love to see you play "In Constant Motion"

Honestly it's not a 1:1 rendition but he really nails the Portnoy style where any variations are seamless and blend in. It's good to remember that even Portnoy doesn't play 1:1 with the albums when he performs live because a lot of what Portnoy does in the studio IS improvised.
@AAXplosion3 жыл бұрын
@@MitchCairns that's it :) I don't replicate it 1:1 because Portnoy didn't make that too. He variegates live but keeping the Portnoy Style. And I try the same in my cover. :)

it all begins with a good sounding drumset. The Tama Superstar sounds awesome. The right choice of heads and a good tuning. A little EQ and the sound is perfect. :)

Hi! Sehr gut!

Portnoy has done so much fantastic work on the hi-hat over the years, which is honestly quite an unusual part of the kit to be a drummer's signature instrument. There are plenty of drummers who are famous for the way they move around the toms, their ghost notes or their double pedal technique for instance; not so many for their hi-hat playing.
