Kevin Moore's lyrics are just fantastic. One of the many things he brought to the band that they were never able to replace.

no no a nogo,every profi-musician say, DT became better and better with Rudess !

@@Nonconform14 Rudess is a more talented keyboard player than Moore, but he isn't half the songwriter or lyricist that Moore was.

Absolutely - by the time LaBrie gets to the "...fearless faith in DESTINY!" I feel for the guy and also think he rocks, as it's a very complex piece to sing over.

Exellent! Song is from 85 album so composed propably even earlier. You could argue that this is somewhat naive or even ridiculous but....wanna hear it again whats propably a goos sing for a song. its kinda funny and i've never enjoyed DT's vocalist Lebrie? Labrie? James L. :) well point been these early Dream Theater songs stand the test of time i actually laugh by myself listening to these few classics from this album and what the names was .... Images and words and Awake. couple of songs this is so effin exelencioso HEHEHEEE. Gets better w/time like good wine.

The sheer brilliance of Kevin Moore, everyone! (have to agree with BtStudio: Rudess, as usual, destroys Moore's solos and WDADU tracks do not suit James' vocals)

I'll always love DT, more than any other band because of what they've already done for me. But why is Jordan not doing the bends in the beginning???
@ankihansen24895 жыл бұрын
Because he doesn't have the sensibility of Kevin Moore.

@@ankihansen2489 honestly, I think because it's so much work he can only put everything into so much.

I've always felt Moore's lyrics were a little verbose at times, at least when trying to fit within the confines of the music. Read by themselves they're always fantastic, but you can kind of tell on occasion that there's just more than can comfortably fit on any given line. That aside, I actually think the material on WDaDU is still great. I'd love to have a freshly-recorded version if that ever ends up being on the table.

Thales Kruger Music Studio You are aware that this song was in an album that has been published in 1989, right?

It's about how their first record label stiffed them. Similar theme to Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar" and the Clash's "Complete Control".

Even though I love prog in general, always found WDADU songs too weird both vocally and instrumental wise, more like using odd time signatures for the sake of being progressive. Obviously DT have matured a lot in Images and Words.

@@subutaynoyan5372 I have no complaints about James LaBrie or his singing - but for me, the songs on the first album belong to Dominici (which I was so pleased when he performed live with them again a few years ago).

The quality is quite good, but the mix has got too much drums in foreground.

The instruments are overly panned in my opinion, especially the guitar. Therefore the whole mix sounds a little empty.

I have to admit Jordan totally ruined the solo here... And this so does not suit for Labrie at all... That's a shame cause it is awesome

I know imagine if they did an extended version of it live and they turned up the volume a bit more lol
@DragonTigerBoss5 жыл бұрын
Except it _is_ awesome and suited LaBrie very well. Dominici was overbearingly 80s pop-styled. John Petrucci's playing complements it perfectly.
@thecoolestguy67212 жыл бұрын
Even though I love Jordan, he made the solo overly technical here and took the soul out of it.
