Excellent cover. For the uninformed, this song is the final song of the 12 Step Suite which is a series of 5 songs: The Glass Prison, This Dying Soul, The Root of All Evil, Repentance, and The Shattered Fortress. This is a great song for beginners to get comfortable with a 7 string, string skipping, and alternate picking and such fun to play through even if you can't play the solo. Thanks for sharing!

This song is the final chapter of a suite called 12 step-suite written by Mark Portnoy about his problem with alcohol. He included one chapter of the suite in every Dt album from Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence to Black Clouds & Silver Linings. In every song there are parts and melodies that remind of other Chapter of the suite. The songs (chapters) are in order: The Glas Prison, This Dying Soul, The Root of All Evil, Repentance and this one.

It's a guitar cover, it's meant for us to hear the guitar over the rest of the band. That's the way he wants to do it, since that's how the rest of his (recent) covers are.
