I wish I could tell you what program this was broadcasted on, but I can't make out what that logo says for the life of me, lol. For anyone unaware of this show, this was a concert Dream Theater played at the small-but-legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club on January 31st, 1995. To celebrate the band's 10th anniversary and promote their upcoming European tour, they played various cover songs from bands that inspired them. Some of these performances included special guests, who were Steve Howe of Yes, Barney Greenway of Napalm Death, and Steve Hogarth and Steven Rothery from Marillion. It was certainly a crazy, busy night for Dream Theater, one of the reasons being that they were supposed to play Marillion's Sugar Mice with Fish, the original singer of Marillion, but he had to cancel at the last minute. Steve Hogarth got word of this, and decided to come down to the venue with Steven Rothery the day of the show to play with the band. They put together a rendition of Easter during soundcheck, and the rest is history. Dream Theater also did tons of press interviews before and after the show, so much that the venue's owner was threatening to kick everyone out for going so far past their closing time! The only thing that convinced him not to was the fact that MTV was there. Portions of this night ended up being officially released on the A Change of Seasons EP, the Five Years in a LiveTime home video, and the Christmas 1996 fan-club CD. Better-quality footage of Damage Inc can be found on the Five Years video, but I decided to upload it anyway since that DVD has been out-of-print for quite a while now.
I upscaled and rendered this video with Apple's compressor program, which I recently got, so there will no longer be any large letterboxing on my videos. Also, unlike my previous videos (besides the one uploaded a few minutes before this one), this video is genuine 720p, and all of my videos will be from now on. I made, and still make, many of my videos in 720p since KZbin doesn't allow 60 fps on 480p videos, and it also compresses standard-def videos much more than HD ones. I'm not going to upscale up to 1080p though, since it's better to just upscale to 720p to get the benefits of uploading in HD, and then let your computer upscale it the rest of the way. I'm going to be experimenting with a better method of deinterlacing, and a potentially better method of upscaling soon though, so my video-making process should improve even more in the (hopefully) near future.
