Standing by the window Eyes upon the moon Hoping that the memory will leave his spirit soon She shuts the doors and lights And lays her body on the bed Where images and words are running deep She has too much pride to pull the sheets above her head So quietly she lays and waits for sleep She stares at the ceiling And tries not to think And pictures the chains She's been trying to link again But the feeling is gone And water can't cover her memory And ashes can't answer her pain God give me the power to take breath from a breeze And call life from a cold metal frame In with the ashes Or up with the smoke from the fire With wings up in heaven Or here, lying in bed Palm of her hand to my head Now and forever curled in my heart And the heart of the world

"So quietly she lays and wait for SLIP" What happened in this studio version? Why LaBrie was in a hurry to finish the sentence? During live concerts he surely emphasizes that word, but in the Album version it was cut short...

Never liked this band much back in the day but fast forward 20 plus years or... so I was shopping at a grocery store and I would always here this song all the time while shopping and hear it all the time with other songs on the Muzak overhead and every time I would shop even at other stores I would hear this same song and I liked it. It was very relaxing and just had a somber feel to it so I finally shazamed it and to my surprise it was mother fucking Dream Theater. I was like WTF? I always thought this band was hard rock and metal etc. Anyway I totally love this song and now have a much more respect for the band. Funny, the older I get the more I appreciate bands and the way they change even if they are more mellow etc. A+++
