Sadly the game has only gotten marginally better since, little less crashes, new balance patch and allowing single player again. In fact 9 out of 10 good things for Refunded has been by users (user made ladder etc) Original TFT still better.

IIRC NMS had features cut, both because Sean Murray said what he wanted on questions of what was confirmed, but also that they had a complete database malfunction like 3 time during development causing the project to get lost and having to be remade. In blizzard's case, they're just cutting content because $10000 is not enough money for a small studio to write 5 lines of code. Fuck knows why

I was so looking forward to Reforged but I already had a bad feeling about it with all the bad news surrounding Blizzard. When they fired so many members of staff, the cancellation of Heroes Esports, The Blitzchung scandal, BFA being a dissapointment, the sad ending of N'Zoth, so much build up and then no grand finale. And the sad excuses made afterwards for all of it made it even worse. Blizzard indeed is not the same anymore. What pisses me off the most is not being able to play the classic Warcraft 3 either. I noticed 2 years ago that only single player was available and i wondered why until the announcement came for Reforged. I thought back then... they are not going to force me to buy Reforged to play the classic version i hope. And indeed, that's what they are indeed trying to do. I cannot play my classic Warcraft 3 games anymore as it keeps referring to the my batnet! And no possibility to put in my keys. Such a low low move from Blizzard! I am waiting for them to rectify this and make it possible for those to still play the classic version. If not, then i guess i will be leaving the Warcraft world and not touch a Blizzard game ever again. I did not buy Reforged for obvious reasons... and will not do so until Blizzard rectifies all that is wrong with the game and with the access to the classics.

Honestly, I get the feeling that the devs actually wanted to make the game that was promised, but were restricted whether by a lack of budget or time. You can see genuine hard work in the character models, the alternate versions for the paladins, dreadlords etc and the new animations . I mean I'm not a game dev but I know for a fact how hard and time consuming it can be to create detailed 3D models like these , especially the amount thats in the game. So that really makes me wonder who made the decision that this game NEEDED to be released at all yet. If this game had at least another year it might have been GREAT But, honestly my biggest dissappoinment is the legal shit with the custom games. They literally took one of the most fun things about the RTS genre , the ine thing I was legitimately excited for and fucked it up 😤😤

Ever since they forced the unusable *20GB* "reforge", it won't let me play any version. I asked support, and they told me to buy it again because I didn't still have the CD key I installed from XX years ago. I was always able to play WC3 without issue, so I didn't need the CD key anymore. It's already installed for years, so surely that's that, but no. Blizzard is no more, Activision is here to stay.

When you first launch the game your treated to a completely redone intro cinematic. Unfortunately it's the only one to have actually been revisited to this level of polish. During the cinematic for the orc prologue campaign I also had a lot of screen tearing forcing me to enable vsync which was disabled by default. So I first dove into the menus. What Blizzard did was they have essentially merged Reforged and WCIII into one game. If you own a disc copy of the original? That game will be patched to work with the modern WCIII reforged. Indeed even playable against and with those who own reforged and are using new models. This creates some positives and negatives. (If you want to play as it was originally you will likely have to install the disc copy and disconnect from the net to prevent it from updating). That's right. Even if you have a disc copy? It will likely update to reforged as well since the old bnet client is toast. This has caused some displeasure among fans who preferred to keep WCIII just as it was and keep the two separate. The old UI is gone which has been a point of contention for some as well. Both versions now effectively share the new UI. I am not a programmer but I imagine this was done to avoid having multiple servers and having to patch two different versions of the client. The other point of them being so linked that is both a positive and a negative is that the animations run at a certain speed. By being so tied to the older game? The animators really didn't have much wiggle room to do radically new animations for the units or it would risk breaking the game when their goal was to have them work with one another. The upside of this is that this potentially creates a larger player pool and renewed interest in Warcraft as an RTS. We will see now after the backlash this has garnered. Another point of ire for folks is that the creation tools have seen a far more stringent TOS. This is likely to prevent another DOTA or League of Legends rising up from a community project. The problem is that Blizzard takes full ownership so that even if a community member creates a map? They may in fact see no credit for such. When your in the menu? You go to options and hit a toggle for classic and reforged to change the visual style. This is the only place this swap can be done because the units themselves require much more memory than that in Starcraft where it could be switched on the fly in game. There are no profiles yet nor leaderboards/rankings. There is a collection that houses player icons that are unlocked through campaign progress depending on difficulty and by playing and winning X number of matchmaking games. Once in the game proper, the higher level of detail is striking. Character models have a lot more detail. Buildings and creeps as well. I would say that the aesthetic change may take some getting used too as it is a bit harder to identify buildings now in the UI panel. The environment and maps themselves I would have liked to have seen more work to smooth out rough edges. I started with the prologue campaign where you lead Thrall through some short tutorials. They actually expanded this with remastered demo missions that were not in the original game. All was going well till I tried to load chapter 3. It fully loaded then promptly dumped me to the main menu saying "Defeat." Frustrated I decided to try and restart the game. Upon doing so I found out that my progress from Chapter 1 and 2 had not been saved meaning I had to do them all over again. The audio and story thus far are faithful to the original. Purists (myself included) did not want them to muck with the story too much especially after seeing how BFA has gone. That said? I do think it's unfortunate that the closeup camera angle we saw of Jaina, Arthas and Uther outside Stratholme appears to have been cut and not made it into the final version. The jokes and voice lines are all there with Monty Python references galore. The Dryad's is among my favorite. "I'll distract the enemy with my human call. I'm sooo wasted...I'm sooo wasssted." And yes I admit one of the first things I did was repeatedly click on a Pig and sheep to watch it explode. I eventually made it deep into the Human campaign up to the Culling of Stratholme. In doing so I noticed that sometimes particle effects can flicker and look as if they are glitching when partially obscured by the fog of war. Pathing can still be a bit odd and feels like a byproduct of when the game was made compared to SCII's smarter AI where units will move out of the way for other units. However, this did present strategic gameplay in WCIII in that you could block an enemy hero from escaping if you could surround them with units. Overall it's a (mostly) visually impressive update to one of the genre defining all time masterpieces which is why it's bugs and issues kind of sour the experience somewhat. I don't blame the devs entirely for this. The classic team is likely small and they were probably constrained even further by a limited budget knowing activision and the executives. They have a long way to go if they want to right this ship. It's unfortunate because they have now sullied their crown jewel that is WCIII.

When u do step by step refund option u will get a message probably telling u that u can't get refund , how ever u have an option to still write a message , so there just describe that u dont like the game its not the same product and u want ur money back. I got the old version so i am not giving them 30$ only for new models i have been playing the game since 2003 so for me its not a problem to continue play with the old models .

Reforged looked like shit from the beginning anyway, It looks like a souless version or WC3. Sure, RoC and TFT had outdated graphics in 2020 but they got PERSONALITY, which reforged lacked from the get go

Tbh original WC3 looks better than reforged, even with 3 polygons and 3 frames, the graphics blends with the UI and the pov, colours are vibrant and every unit characterization is better displayed. Reforged looks like a souless husk of original RoC+TFT, to me at least

I never expected something good about this product. Reforge? Seriously... The original game was a masterpiece, redoing the models and the graphics would not make it any different to me at least, so i really did not understand the hype over this. And now people are complaining about what exactly was promised to be released, minus few cinematics and adjustments, i guess we do live in a cursed times where people are having too much and do not appreciate anything anymore, very sad mad world :v
