piri was the last of the nightmare series so deja vu is the start of a new series apparently more fantasy based. the nightmare series revolves around yoohyeon getting cursed by a spider spirit and the members especially jiu(leader minji \o/) trying to save her but getting trapped in the process. you can see jiu trying to catch up to yoohyeon in what. while deja vu is a new series, the plot references the old story line. in the end jiu 'saves' yoohyeon by sacrificing herself. I made a short video on deva vu's symbolism and linkage to the nightmare series for those interested.

Deja Vu, as far as I can tell, is actually a one off. It was a collaboration with the makers of the King's Raid video game. It's not related to any of their story lines. Deja Vu, in a nutshell, tells the story of a group of friends (possibly sisters?) who get embroiled in a struggle to win / take the throne. Several of them die in the process (coffin scenes) and one of them either leaves or is banished (the scene with the gate). In the end, the 'victor' sits on the throne surrounded by the destruction caused by the conflict between the women while vying for the throne. I guess the moral would be that, yes, she won the throne, but it cost her everything.

I agree that Deja Vu is in another story line, which I hope that they would explore more after Vespa release the next chapter. And for Nightmare series, I think the stories are still linked until The curse of the Spider where how they were during the curse are told. Everyone has their own nightmares in Piri and Breaking Out, to me, is the story of the girls break out to get to each others, the nightmare still lasts forever. If I'm not wrong, Yoohyeon said during Deja Vu promotion that you can never escape from nightmares, or something similar.

@@keithcraig506 The interesting thing in their MVs is that the more you dig into, the more things will you find out and would change how you think about the story line. Deja Vu is the condition in which a person's imaginary is so strong that it makes things become so real, linking with blue roses - symbolizing uncertainty, something unreal - I would say Yoohyeon saw a vision where she would be killed by JiU, so she took action first, but JiU was so strong that she defeated Yoohyeon. However they were still sister-like, JiU spared her life, walked away and being stabbed. Tbh, about the other girls, I'm still confusing on what happened to them, if they were all killed by Yoohyeon, I really want the next MV gets more into it. The moon on the right was from King's Raid which appeared after Kasel and Frey became darkness, the heroes were betrayes by the one they believe in, the goddess.

It still remain a mystery. Just like you say. "How, How in the world". So do we and Btw Siyeon is pronounce Shi Yeon. She is the main vocalist, i suggest for you to watch her cover of Speechless and Overdose. You will be more impress with her talent and vocal range. I saw them in London back in October and it was my first hi-touch too. It went by so quickly and I got so nervous and overwhelmed that I don't actually remember it! It's just... gone from my memory. All I remember is that I tried to say "thank you" in Korean to each member but I felt really conscious about my pronunciation and just sort of nervously mumbled it. So my advice would be to decide what you're going to say beforehand and say it with confidence. Make sure to look them in the eye and take a mental picture. Enjoy the moment because it goes by in a flash. Enjoy the show! They're absolutely amazing live. Try not to get bias-wrecked by SuA. Her stage presence is insane and she'll test you at every opportunity.

OMG!!! I can't believe you're really going! I'm so happy for you! Dreamcatcher really put all out each time. Be sure to take a sugar drink before going, their energy is on another level I think you can watch their fanchants (they have them in the official channels) or do a listening party of their albums, but should avoid the other videos until the concert ends. They have so many and so good covers and dance performances that I personally hope you watch them all (they dancing to 'Believer' is a MUST SEE that everyone forgets about). But they usually make some covers in concerts so I think it's better if you let yourself be surprised since you have the oportunity A video that you definitely must watch before is 'Over the sky' or '하늘을 넘어'. It's not an MV but more like a performance video. The song it's an anniversary gift from dreamies to insomnias and they always sing it. It's really special and they even add sign language to the dance so more Insomnias can understand the meaning. They're not only really talented, hardworking and pure crackheads, the whole group is so open-minded and caring to everyone that it's hard to understand how dark concepts suits them so well Also, congratulations! You got every member right! Just see for the correct pronunciation in the comments. Still, I will try later to share some specials clips for the rest of the girls so you can get their voices and faces together. It seems hard at first but each girl have a special voice and style so it's easier than you think Note: Handong isn't this time in the tour since she's on a Chinese show. From what I understand, the rock vibe isn’t super popular in Korea, but it IS a much bigger thing in Japan, which is probably why Dreamcatcher is starting to actively put out Japanese music. Deja Vu was actually made as part of a promotion for a Japanese video game, so DC seems to be doing pretty well for themselves regardless. 😎

Really enjoyed the video, always makes me really happy to see people get invigorated over Dreamcatcher for the first time! and don't worry, all us InSomnias had the same problem choosing our favorite songs by Dreamcatcher, the most common thing I hear in the community is "there is no song by them I would skip". They just do such a good job at producing a variety of different concepts, but still retaining that Dreamcatcher style we all love! You got all the names pretty much spot on! some pronunciations were a tiny bit off but as you hear them more you will catch on quickly. Only ones I'll mention are Dami is pronounced Dah-mee (as opposed to daa-mee) and Siyeon is pronounced She-yeon (as opposed to Si-yeon or Sigh-yeon) Others were so small it's not worth bringing up. :) You pretty much covered all the main title tracks (besides Full Moon + Over The Sky, but they are anniversary specials, not like official albums. piri is like a flute (the whistles in the bg) and piri was the first time we got to see gahyeon rapping and we stannnnnn (the little vibaration in siyeon's and sua's voice is called vibrato and is usually used to make a long note seem even longer when switching to it to end the note but they just use it as a way of styling their singing overall)

I'm jealous that you can go to their concert; I, unfortunately, am going to be at work. Myself, my fave title track of theirs' is Piri, but Deja Vu, You and I, Chase Me, and Good Night are all up there. They have so many just-as-excellent B-sides that you have not yet had a chance to dive into. Once you do, however, you will discover an entirely new reason to stan Dreamcatcher. Wonderland tops my list for B-sides, but then it's a huge pile-up for second place. They just that good.

Hello :) Thanks for your reaction. You should react to their special clips and bsides since they will be performing most of those on the concert. I believe the set list of the concert includes: lullaby, trust me, sleepwalking, wake up, mayday, trap, then there was none, wonderland, which star, july 7th, polaris, daydream and their titles track songs. Their fansongs too, full moon and over the sky. They usually sing a bit of the curse of the spider and silent night. Dance practices are also a must. For the fanchants they have fanchant videos for their title songs since fly high era. About the names, you got everyone right! But siyeon is pronouced as she-won. :) I dont know when is the concert you will be going to, but have a lot of fun and tell us how it went :) my tips for the hitouch is: try not to freeze lol you got so little time with them, so just try to speak up whatever thing you had in mind to tell them. They are very warm and receptive

While for western 90s and 2000s music is dominated by metal, rock, pop rock, emo. Maybe thats why DC is more likely have more international fans who get used to listen rock genre. A Piri is a double reed flute and, as far as I can tell and, strangely enough, is not represented at all in this video, at least not accurately. The 'whistle' you heard sounds more like a whistle based flute, like a recorder, not a reed instrument. Also, a piri is played vertically, like a clarinet, but in the video they mime playing it horizontally, like a western flute. Last but not least, during an instrument one of the members of Dreamcatcher stated that "She picked up the piri...", meaning the horn that was on the chair at the beginning of video There seems to be some inconsistencies here that I'm trying to work out. As for the reference to a piri in the song, traditionally Korean soldiers would carry a piri and use it to sound an alarm or call for help, hence the reference to "Emergency emergency" and "Blow the piri" in the lyrics. At the end of You and I, you my have noticed that one of the girls didn't make it through the portal out of the nightmare realm, while all the others escaped. This song is supposed to represent her calling the others for help and they try to save her. Unfortunately, if you pay attention to the video, you will see all of them get recaptured while trying to save her. Deja Vu is not part of the Nightmare series. @@kevindean0000 That was my first impression too. It makes sense if you consider it being used to sound an alarm or call for help. It also makes sense considering that, as I said, one of the members called the horn on the chair at the beginning of the video a piri during an interview. But if you look up piri in the web, it's an entirely different thing. I dunno, maybe piri has a more general meaning than what I'm thinking, much like 'flute' is a general reference to different types of wind instruments.

Siyeon is pronounced She-yeon and the reason for that is because ㅅ(S in romanization) in front of ㅣ(i in romanization making the "e" sound) is always pronouced like SH, so 시연(Siyeon) is pronounced She-yeon but romanization expects people to understand the "S" before "i" Korean rule I juste explained (which is very stupid since the only purpose of romanization is to help people pronounce things they can't read) and there's many other weird romanization mistakes everywhere in subs and even in official idol names so it makes everything very confusing specially for new fans (like 휘인 Wheein and 화사 Hwasa, thechnically both their names should start with H by romanization rules but they decided to switch it up maybe to make them more unique I don't know lol). Romanization isn't really reliable =/ But don't worry, you're doing great, love your reactions, keep it up. :)

Yes, romanization is ok for an idea of what is being said, but if you are trying to learn the language most say to avoid it as much as possible. There are sounds in Korean (and other languages) that simply do not exist in English that romanization can only approximate.

1) No one follows the actual Romanization standards. Few even know that there *are* Romanization standards. It doesn't help that Idols and Agencies don't use them either (because they aren't linguists). 2) So Everyone has and creates there own standard. Based on convenience, aid in pronunciation, and for some aid in spelling back to the Hangeul 3) But even amongst professional linguists, there is an understanding "within the Standard when you see 'this' it is always pronounced this" I just tell people to spend the 90 minutes it takes to learn the pronunciation rules for Hangeul and forget Romanized Korean even exists.

i would recommend your next three to be: "Full Moon" either dance practice, dance special or their only tv showing (music bank) (i can't chose). this was a "fan song" for their 1st anniversary (no promotion) "Mayday" special clip with their fan band. this was a B track and is one of their favorite Encore songs during their concerts. You'll know why after you hear it (no promotion) "Over the Sky" special clip, which was their 2nd "fan song" on their 2nd anniversary. once you hear it you know it's a fan song (no promotion) frankly, their "no promotion" songs are as good as other groups title tracks... then the next three could be: "I miss you" 1st japan solo release kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJK6aJxnl7msa6c "Breaking out" MV then "My way" (only have color coded lyric videos by fans)... which will cover the japan releases.
