Dreamcatcher - Good Night MV Reaction

I am so excited that I am getting the chance to make a MV Reaction to Good Night so soon after the debut of Dreamcatcher. I was pretty sure that Dreamcatcher was going to stick with their metal sound with Good Night but I had no idea what I was going to hear. I would say that Good Night is not my favorite song from Dreamcatcher though since it does not have the same energetic and heavy feel that Chase Me had.

Something heavier? Listen to 'My Toys (Intro)'. That's actually more hardcore but unfortunately, that one's only their intro. And oh, the screaming guitar that you are looking for in Chase Me is there too.

Its not about the guitar or anything it all about the flow of the song. This one is much more interrupted compared to Chase Me. If they had cut down on the melodic parts that completely dropped the metal instrumentation then my first impression would have been much better. It really too me out of the flow of the song. This is all based on my first listen though so I will probably come back with a further review as I listen to it more.

The instrumental on the end of the video is gotta be the Intro of their third song. Listen at Chase Me MV at the end of the video there is instrumental and it's literally Good Night's Intro. Btw, Good Reaction!

This is probably my favorite girl group right now. I'm really into the rock/metal/creepy concept. I did enjoy the debut song more than this one, but I still prefer this song hands down to many other kpop songs I've heard. Also Nick, could you please react to "we are a bit different" by EVOL as a throwback reaction? they are another girl group with a unique concept, however they didn't succeed with their uniqueness and had to disband

Dreamcatcher is doing something that no other K-Pop group is doing and that is the reason why I love them right now. Whenever a group does something that is really unique I have to give them massive praise for it. I love EvoL! When I was in LA For KCon 2015 I found both of their albums at a store in K-Town so naturally I needed to buy them. I will definitely add that song to my list since it would be a great chance to revisit that group and their music.

i get a big vibe of evil dead in this video, tree branches catch you in the forest at the night, an evil book, the stuff animals, of course i love it. Another thing, they mix metal with rap, like lots of USA's bands did in the 90s, i cant help compare DC to Evanescence a bit, cheers

If they brought out a little nu metal I might die. That was the stuff that was pretty mainstream when i was a kid. I would legitimately die if they did something like Rage Against the Machine, or even just did a cover of one of their songs. There is so much that this group could do to set them selves apart from any other k-Pop group its exciting to see where they are going. I can totally see how these girls would make you think of Evanescence.

ROK Music Review, yes they are very talented, but Minx is my worst fear, and with that i mean 5 of the 7 DC members were on another group before with a concept totally opposite, Minx, so i hope Happyface didnt force this metal concept to them because if DC member preferred Minx concept, they heart will no be 100% on DC, they will no be able to share the concept with passion, well.. thats my fear

Oscar Herrera yeah the tree part sorta reminded me of the Evil Dead, that's why it frightened me a bit, but Sua's rap part is still DREAMY AS HELL, I still love Dreamcatcher and their concept very much, but it is like rock/horror concept yes.

I feel like Chase Me had a J-Rock vibe to it and this had a sort of European Rock/Metal feel to it I'm hoping the next MV is witch themed, the little teaser at the end made it look that way with the robes!

I recommend you listen to their song "Full Moon." There's not a full MV of it, but I definitely recommend going on one of the lyric videos. There's a few.

I thought a bit similar to you. It should be more heavier than this. But I guess they probably save it for their next release. I think they're going to keep the "fresh" rock music concept because I know (you too maybe) when they're promoting as MINX before, the concept wasn't really appealing much, even their music was really good. I'm pretty sure that Happyface Entertainment are not going to change their music for at least 3-4 years, regarding of their popularity. I hope Dreamcatcher get the recognition they deserve. Anyway, glad to see their comeback and your reaction! It's worth of waiting.

Exactly the same. I even hope they don't change it in their entire career. All of their choreography since Minx were powerful, that's why I think they will stick with it.

I love the piano parts but I think that's largely because I grew up listening to evanescence and I think Dreamcatcher is taking a very similar approach to the genre.

I like this song just as much as Chase me. The rock element is good. I don't mind the piano part. In Chase me, I thought that guy was a paranormal researcher. Based on the his clothes and the books in his room, he seems to be some kind of magic user in Good Night. I'm interested in seeing what becomes of him in the next part.

Great vocals, great imagery, and great dance, As far as music influences ... not only do you get a bit of a heavy metal kick (you mentioned Babymetal ... love BM!) ... their music sometimes reminds me a bit of KARA circa 2010-2011.

I hear you as I listen to a lot of black/death still. It was missing that monster riff which is what made Babymetal's Karate so good. I'm still happy with the direction they're going in though and I can understand why they break things up a bit to appeal to the more usual kpop audience. The rap breakdown was pretty damn cool and ominous though and fit the vibe. The girls are definitely versatile and talented. Hoping theyre here to stay for a long time as DC.

Is it the Babymetal comparison that makes you look for something heavier, or is it just that you're into the heavier metal subgenres? Dreamcatcher's always given me a very general jpop/jrock kind of vibe, the kind of popular charting songs that would get roped into some anime intro type of deal. Like, the hook is definitely reminiscent of the style Japan's been pushing for the last decade and change. Meanwhile on the opposite, lighter, end of that sound spectrum, we've got Gfriend's first four songs full of melodramatic synth/strings, no rapping, and that rocking guitar solo interlude prevalent in most jpop songs from a decade ago. (Btw, nice job on the intentional/unintentional video continuity building, reviewing both Chase Me and Good Night in the same Behemoth shirt. Still can't believe you wore a Mayhem shirt for Red Velvet's Would U of all bands, lmao. Maybe it just stuck out to me because, hey, shout outs to Norway.)

I guess from my past listening to metal I can feel a heavier song in this one, especially in the drums. The fact that the guitar and all of that goes away for large parts of the song disrupts whatever feeling that I would have gotten from the metal bits. I am not comparing them to Babymetal in any other way than saying that they are both bringing metal to their respective pop music industries. They are completely different.

I really hope that they make a prequel b/c I love this storyline. And I'm waiting for more dance practices and covers. I think they do different genres just to show how versatile they are, but I hope they stick w/ the dark concept. It doesn't have to be horror, but I hope it stays dark. I agree that they played it safe a bit, but I still love the song. So I hope they take it up a notch next time. I'm a metal fan too; so I was looking forward to more intensity.

As I said at the end of the video I think they set it up for another part in the story. At the same time they could just end it here and move on to someting else. I do hope they stick with the metal/rock sound since it is so unique.
