The MV is pretty dark. It shows the social medias influence on people. Siyeon poses on an expensive car, pretending it's her car and she lives a lavish life, to get likes and views (while you can see a man sitting in the driver seat, who is most likely the real owner of the car). JiU is like a doll in a box, for people to admire. Handong's pictures are only taken where there are no flaws, while the bigger shot shows her bruised legs. Dami talks about drinking everyday (and in reality she doesn't really drink, only occasionally), Yoohyeon is obsessed with taking selfies, and is heavily getting edited, Gahyeon and SuA's eyes are glued to their phone, etc. You can also see Yoohyeon and Handong fight on camera (as well as Siyeon vs SuA, and Gahyeon vs JiU), but as soon as the camera stops, they are helping each other and laughing. This could be interpreted in many ways, but one can assume it has to do with fake drama for views and attention. Also, there's a whole ARG/Mystery Code tied to this comeback. Put simply, there was this twitter user (ymenehcra99) who kept tweeting about their weird experiences and memory loss. Talking about a crown, forgetting things, acting weird, etc. In the MV, you see someone named ShaSha who started working at DC Company as a graphic designer. When she started a search on Google, 'Dreamchat' popped up on her screen and 'ymenehcra' starts talking to her. ShaSha ends up on the road, following a truck with a crown on it, driving on darker roads, through a tunnel until she got near Dreamcatcher. But they were not dancing, they were standing still, almost like AI (you can see all the glitches at the end of the MV), JiU approaches ShaSha and disconnects her. Before ShaSha fainted, she saw a glimpse of DC disappearing before her eyes, as well as the crown above. It's all a simulation, all fake.

Well it is REALLY not DC Flexing. And it took me 30+ listen to get the taste of it, one of the longest. But Shatter was even more weird at the beginning before it became one of their top tracks for me. Reading between the lines this is a massive middle finger to the entertainment music industry where everything is edited, faked, staged. Where idols always need to look perfect and shiny. Where everything is superficial and all about looks. Fortunately the message is not too obvious so they can actually perform it. But the fact that this track has reached rank 23 in Korea while rank 2 worldwide says a lot :D :D

At first glance you could think this is about them being proud and happy with themselves, about confidence. I don't think that is it though. I have no idea if my theory is correct, but the fact that the album is called VersuS VillainS makes me think it is not this simple. So I believe this song is meant as a criticism of narcissism, vanity, materialism and also (maybe) the fast fashion industry. "OOTD" stands for "Outfit of the Day" after all, maybe useless instagram influencers posting videos of their outfit of the day, which also promotes fast fashion. The fact that fashion is moving ever faster is the most destructive industry to the planet apart from the fossil fuel industry. The Aral lake has all but disappeared because of the cotton industry for example. It would fit to the Villain image, and you can see in the MV that they are acting. It is shown in the scene where Yoohyeon and Handong are fighting, but then the camera is off and Handong helps Yoohyeon up. The main reason why I don't think it is about confidence or their own success is the line "Driving on the highway, drunken everyday, do you feel like a monster?" and the album title. That just doesn't fit. And there was the ymenehcra account posting about touching a crown is dangerous and other cryptic messages before the comeback. It could also be a big and well-hidden F*U to the Kpop industry, like the Nightmare arc probably was. The narcissism and materialism is definitely criticized here, and Dreamcatcher have been criticized a lot themselves because of their rock/metal concept, while other groups have been celebrated for using a guitar riff once in a song. And Handong standing in front of the camera with bruises all over her legs seems to be a comment on the merciless industry as well. The music is highly interesting as well. There still is rock there, but dialed back. The song structure is not what you'd expect at all, for me it is punk rock meets K-Pop. Not their usual spiel, but a very good progression. It takes a couple of listens to really appreciate it.

Hi. When I first listened to OOTD, I thought the song was so amazing and great, by the way, it was different from what I had expected, so I felt unfamiliar a little. But, the second and third... As I listened to it, I see myself quickly falling into the magic of another Dreamcatcher as I always did. Surely, Dreamcatcher is Dreamcatcher ! 👍

The fact that this song/mv are SATIRE/Social critique, calling out all the fake , insta-people, influencers,etc. ❤ While at the same time making it a flex ❤ Whole album is a big SLAP in the face. Im surprised you haven't react to XG new performance and baby monster - batter up. Baby monster - batter up debut mv just broken record. A bit over 22 million views with 24 hr. OOTD got mixed reviews from fans. I like it though it took me a couple listens to really vibe with it. Dong's cowboy outfit is high up there for me as you know Dallas is right down the rode from me. Prob Dongie in the silver hat is my #1.

It feels a bit out of character for Dreamcatcher because of the best reason, the song ls about Toxic Confidence and Narcissism, like the celebrity fake living standards. Completely the opposite of DC in real life.

Interesting line from Jiu Venus being the roman Godess of love, fertility, life while Nephthys is Egyptian Godess of Death, Darkness and Decay. Contradiction in extreme. Only Dreamcatcher can pull this off. The song and the MV has a lot of debates between Insomnias. It took a while to grow on me. My only problem with the song is that the vocals sounded weak in the album version. Listen to the live version, it's brilliant. The MV is like a harsh comment on the music industry and social media. Point of example, look at Handong's scene, picture perfect on the top but bruises on her legs. Favourite song from the album is Rising, an awesome rocker. Dreamcatcher is the DREAM. 🤘🥰🤘
